Highlights of Team USA's mixed curling win over Italy in the semis. The end of the match was on this morning (Hawaii time) when I was out getting breakfast, so I saw this competition. Great shot at the end by Team USA (they had the hammer in the 8th match), to pull out the win, after entering the 8th match down 1 point.

Tough outcome for the USA, as Brittany Bowe and Erin Jackson finished 4th & 6th, respectively, in the 1000m women's speed skating. Erin won gold in the 500m in the 2022 Olympics, but has had a lot of injury issues since then.

Madison Chock and Evan Bates, of Team USA, gave a great performance, and scored their highest score ever, in the rhythm dance component of the free skate competition.

I just feel bad for Shiffrin because arguably the greatest women's skier of all time might have the legacy of Olympic failure. Hopefully she wins one of her other 2 races.
She has had a career very much like Austrian star, Marcel Hirscher. Dominant in World Cup and World Championships, but not as stellar in the Olympics. Hirscher only had a silver to his name until his last Olympics when he won 2 gold. Shiffrin also has 2 golds and 1 silver to date.

Failure is unfair. Subpar - by her incredible standards - is more accurate

And this is why Phelps is the Olympic GOAT. All the pressure and always delivered

Olympic failure???? Really. She has 2 gold medals and a silver medal. That's not failure. On top of that she's the greatest skier of all time man or woman and it's not even close.

She has won 7 out of 8 slalom FIS races this season. The word failure shouldn't be used within a million miles of her name.

She has 108 world cup wins with 164 podiums. Stenmark has the second most wins with 86 wins. She's unbelievably good. Skiing is about way more than the Olympics.

For as special and unique as the Olympics are, it’s a far bigger accomplishment to win the Crystal Globe than it is to win a gold medal. One is requires a season of dominance while the other only requires a day of brilliance in a single race. Shiffrin now has nine slalom Crystal Globes in her collection.

She also has 5 overall titles. She is remarkable. Best ever.

Again...how most will remember her is based on her results at the Olympics which many consider to be a failure.

Never said that's my opinion...I think she's the best ever.

You know as well as I do if she goes 0-3 at this Olympics after 2022 what the conversation will be...didn't say it was fair

Only ignorant idiots who know less than nothing about her and thd sport will consider her a failure.
Its as simple as that.

The USA women's luge gets an Olympic medal. Ashley Farquharson does the impossible (based on past USA performances).

I'm not distraught that Eileen Gu did not win the gold medal.

I like Eileen but think it's such a weird rule around which country you are able to play for. On the one hand, who cares? On the other, they really, really build it up as country vs. country, so athletes who are born here, grow up here, train here, and take advantage of it seems like it shouldn't be a total free for all. I've heard she doesn't go to China much and won't live there (goes to Stanford), but they give her a ton of money in sponsorships and training.

Which is the majority of people
That's what defines a legacy which is why often legacies are inaccurate

Yep....her net worth is substantial.

Zingas and Kolesnik, of the USA, finished 5th in ice dancing. They may be a force for years to come.

Men's halfpipe qualifying runs (only 12 advance to the finals). 3 USA men advanced.
