I agree. I'll also admit we are headed out of town this weekend and with the Super Bowl I'm not thrilled to have to fit a game in the middle. But also this team needs the support. I'll be there. :)

It’s also Super Bowl Sunday, which is going to contribute to a lower turnout.

Another not so great idea by the BIG to schedule games on Super Bowl Sunday, but I'll be one of the millions NOT watching any of it. Seattle and New England? Who gives a damn. The NFL in general, and the Super Bowl in particular, are vastly overrated. Of course, that's just IMHO. The truth is, I wouldn't walk across the street to watch any of it, even if they paid me.

Just waiting for the day when I'm so bored I can watch my DVR's of the Oscar's, Grammy's and Super Bowl.

Yes, pretty dumb to schedule games on Super Bowl Sunday. Not the first time Iowa has had a home game that day, either.

Then again, the NCAA isn’t known for their high IQ.

Feels like this could be trap game with Northwestern getting doors blown off by the machine Illinois is becoming and Iowa coming off west coast road trip. Hope we can get off to good start and not come out flat like the Rutgers game. Take care of business next two and sets up huge game next Saturday

I will be there. Staying in town night before but could really care less about the Super Bowl. Go see the Hawks and drive back afterwards.
I get that it can be a bit tough on Super Bowl Sunday.

I like that they guys have had about 5 days off before the game....just gives them more time coming off the road. I would imagine the guys realize the opportunity in front of them right now and there will be a focus on finishing these next two! Iowa Men's Basketball is getting fun again!

I don’t have a problem with games that day. CBS besides when they have it always has had a college game on. No one minus for hard fans of teams in it want to watch any of the monotonous pre game stuff all day. So people be looking to watch other stuff and college b-ball for sports fans a great option.

Issue with this game is for fans attending. It’s the time for this game with 2pm tip and by time it’s over lot of fans who want to watch need to live within a hr of carver. But I do remember Garza jr year against ILL pretty sure that was on Super Bowl Sunday and was a great game and crowd but think tipped off little earlier.

It might well be for a lot of teams. But Iowa under Ben McCollom ain't gonna get trapped by anything. Did you see what Ben said about the late start @ Washington: "I told them (his team) that I wish it started later. Let's make it harder." That's just one of many reasons Ben ain't just another basketball coach. He's driven. I firmly believe he really would coach just for the challenge of it. Money? Okay, but it's not necessary . . . :cool:

No excuses. Never. For anything. Just go out and impose your will. Do every little thing you can to win. As long as you're on the court, nothing else in the world matters. When you're off the court, everything else is more important than basketball.

Let's not forget that Ben has Iowa on the verge of being 19-5, 9-4 in the BIG with a core of players from Drake.

Ben looks to me like he could be the most successful Iowa coach since Bucky O'Connor (two Final Fours in the late 1950s), Ralph Miller (14-0 BIG champs in 1970), and Lute Olson (Final Four in 1980). I love everything about his philosophy, his background, and his leadership. You can't give Beth Goetz too much credit for making the perfect hire.

I'm a NFL fan, play fantasy football, watch the Chiefs every weekend. I am not excited about this super bowl as I have no rooting interest at all. No Hawks on either team. I really like college football a lot more.

Yes, I plan on being there barring any sickness that would be bad enough to prevent me going. My family has been through the ringer the last 3 weeks. My kids are recycling fevers over a week apart and I'm on the positive half of my family that hasn't thrown up this week (other than watching the women play the Gophers). I really want to go...

Not the first time, no. Iowa has played on Super Bowl Sunday every year in the 2020’s except last year, 2025.

Six of the last seven seasons Iowa has played on Super Bowl Sunday.

It was Super Bowl Sunday, 2/2/20 and a whiteout game.

Got a little chippy at the end, slapping down on Connor. ILL full court pressing late and Wieskamp ran out for a dunk which ILL cried about. The handshake line got heated with ILL assistant coaches.

I got seats right before the game at mid court, but in the top 3rd. My row had 6 people, row behind me 5. Probably looked okay in spots but there were tons of open seats even in good sections.
