OT: Are You Watching Halftime Show? Also, TPUSA Show Expectedly Bombs

Obsessing over the halftime show is weird. Complaining about it being anything but old rock and milquetoast pop has also become something like a pastime.
That said, this is the first one of these where I’m not even familiar with one of the artists’ songs, nor do I think I’ve ever heard any of his music. And he’s got multiple songs with over a billion listens on Spotify, and many others with hundreds of millions of listens. That may reflect just how siloed culture is now with streaming. It probably also reflects that all of his music is in Spanish, which also makes him a strange choice.

The best part about all of this will be the FLOOD of post-performance takes on the Super Bowl's halftime show from the "trad wife, trad life" crowd even though they swore they would watch Kid Rock "family friendly" performance instead. Can't wait!

Spanish is his first language, he just prefers to and is more comfortable singing it.

I'm not watching because I think his music is horrible....worse than horrible in fact, his utterly vapid take on immigration notwithstanding. If I blacklisted every performing monkey for their ignorant political takes, I'd likely have no use for a radio. So just dance, monkey. And no, there is no racial component to this sentiment; it's a play on the pop some of the same title--although when I hear it in my head, it's the metal cover by Leo Moracchioli. I apply this sentiment equally to anyone irrespective of their race, creed, melanin content, etc.
Of course, the dude is from Puerto Rico, so he's clearly an American.

A better poll might’ve been how many of us, who are some of the bigger football fans, are familiar with any of his music, could identify any of his songs, or have intentionally listened to his music.

Kid Rock isn’t anymore wholesome or family-friendly than most that you wouldn’t watch.
This is a gross oversimplification of what the gripe is this year for most. I didn’t like the artist last year, not even a little bit, but that’s quite a bit different than what Bad Bunny is and what he represents to a majority of the country. The frustrating part is he wasn’t selected for the US. It’s a strategic choice for the NFL as they try to move to the IFL, International Football League. They could have done that without choosing someone who offends so many.

This kinda sums it up. This isn’t a situation where the rap fans are disappointed Dolly Parton is singing the national anthem or the country fans when Snoop Dogg is performing. This is way outside those lines. It doesn’t make sense why you would risk offending so many in an attempt to gain international fans.
I would never do that because so many guys on this site that have different political views than me have great sports knowledge and that’s why I’m here. I wish we could be more civil and have open dialogue without the insults and patronizing. Robert Deniro is my favorite actor but we couldn’t be more opposite when it comes to political leanings.
I am 100% conservative 54 year old white guy and this puzzles me. I don’t dislike Kid Rock but he wouldn’t be my choice for a family-friendly, wholesome music act.
That’s not what this is. Snoop Dogg or Lady Gaga don’t represent many people’s personal values but this is way beyond that or even a personal preference.

Just from my perspective, I've heard of him long before any of the controversy (he was a guest performer during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show which is hilarious to the "who is this guy" crowd) but definitely not familiar with his catalogue or individual songs. I'm happy to take the 15 minutes to listen and take in something different. I might like it, I might not. Either of those outcomes are fine and harmless. But somehow we've lost that thread in our culture and feel the need to weaponize anything different and throw temper tantrums like children.
