None of this will change. It’s going to be the same season season too. Look at his last 10 years, this is who Mark is. No ncaa tournament wins, no conference titles. The guy is Mr. Average or worse.
He’s over 0-20 with freshman studs. Has has a 0 class coming in. Blow outs and blowouts. More than any coach has before him combined.

Making shots hides your defensive weaknesses. When you shoot poorly, poor defense is magnified.

The Ref have been bad on both ends this first half. I have seen missed calls on both ends and bogus calls on both ends. 10 fouls on TN and 10 fouls on us. We have not hit our FTs.

The Cats played like crap on defense, and they missed 6 FTs.
However, some of the offensive struggles are somewhat attributable to the crap fouling defense that TN employs…they constantly hold/push every offensive movement. Half their team should be in foul trouble, but they aren’t. Instead, that crap totally throws the other team out of rhythm. It isn’t basketball…it’s rugby on hardwood, and it is absolute crap. For example, go back and look at Jelavic’s last turnover. Okpara gives not one but two big forearms in his back before the turnover…foul call? Nope

This game is awful. No defense. No offense. No rebounding. I try really hard to be optimistic. I really do, but this is just awful.
That's not how it played out. Cal was in talks with Ohio State and Arkansas while we were very much still in the hunt for a title. He violated his contract by doing so before meeting with Barnhart and officially giving him notice that those meetings were taking place. Nobody "ran" Cal out of here. He ran himself off.
It is incredible to think how often Pope's teams come out unprepared to play in the first half.

Moreno could take 7-10 free throws per game if we focused more on getting him the ball. OBv he cant be missing a bunch, but his ftr(.716) is really good. Or does that not get factored in to Pope's analytics.

Body language has to look better to begin the 2nd half or it will quickly be out of reach. Guard the 3, make ft's and play team ball instead of all the ISO BS.
I'd love to see another second-half comeback, but my guess is that TN won't have a letdown. They are motivated after getting beat at home and then punked after the game, not to mention wanting to spoil the denim unis.
This is why nobody should be talking about him and the NBA right now. You have to bring it every game and then some. Moreno will get better in time but he’s got a lot to learn. He’s getting there but it’s going to take some time.
Pope is going to finish KY basketball off if he can’t recruit any better.

Calipari was bluffing for leverage to get what he wanted. He needed to go, but Mitch didn’t have to do it. It was 100% his call and he wanted control back of the basketball program. He saw a way out and took it. Was told by someone who would know Calipari actually called late and said he’d settle the differences when he realized his leverage and threats went south and Barnhart said we’re moving on.
Calipari needed to go, but you don’t replace him with Pope. If that’s what you’re going to do just keep him.
