Well, that really sucks. Any chance of bringing Bobby Engram home?
I don’t believe his name has ever been associated with any position here outside of messages boards. He doesn’t appear to have interest.

He interviewed for head coach a few months ago. I know wr coach is a few rungs down but he had interest in returning.

This hire must be a recognized name with a successful record of putting players in the NFL. Spend the $
Just go through the Roladex for another coach who probably has been at 20 places in the last 20 years. These coaches at all of these schools mostly now are just a bunch of vagabonds.

Relax everyone!!!! Pauley is 5’6”, 140 lbs. He’s the size of our 141 lb wrestler, Braden Davis. No tall WR was coming to PSU because they would be looking down to the coach. Need a legit tall WR coach - better than Fraudlin’s boy Haggans

Listed at 5'6 = 5'3. I prefer coaches over 5'4.

Some guys just don't like the grind of coaching at the college level. No reflection on anyone other than the guy that wants to leave coaching at this level.
Reality is coaching at PSU and having to recruit to rebuild a WR room might of been a task he didn't want to undertake after experiencing the initial grind. NFL WR coaching is coaching & film review.

hmm would have been nice if MC new this guy was kicking the tires earlier

He may have been able to inquire about

Colorado

On December 4, 2025, Brennan Marion was hired to serve as the offensive coordinator for the Colorado Buffaloes under head coach Deion Sanders.[10]

of course that was the day before MC was hired so maybe not but if he had an idea one of his boys was gonna jet...why bring him along

Or maybe it’s because it’s a better job with more pay and has nothing to do with Penn State 🤷‍♂️
That is logical. However, it is a bit disappointing that the guy accepted the job approximately 6 weeks ago, convinced Howard and a few others to stay, convinced several ISU WRs to follow him, convinced portal WR to follow him, and recruited potential future WRs to PSU, a few who were either already committed or interested in PSU under the old staff and were regaining trust in PSU again with the new staff, only to pull the rip cord and bail. It’s a business. I get it. But, it’s a chickensh^t move. How can we ever expect recruits and players to be loyal when their mentors pull BS like this. Pauley can pound sand as far as I’m concerned.

In the last generation, WR coaching/development has been a black hole at PSU - Gattis had the most success of anyone in last 15 years (he had very good incoming HS talent to work with - and a Joe Moorhead offense for a good chunk of that time - but the production was there as well)

The best WR coach for developing talent, in the last 25-30 years (more?) was Mike McQueary. Hands down.
Beginning with taking that all freshman group - 2 of whom nobody really even recruited (Williams, Norwood, and Butler) - and getting great production out of them (despite marginal QB passing ability most of those years), and then moving on with the likes of Derek Moye, Graham Zug, Brett Brackett, Devon Smith, Chaz Powell (who was really a safety, filling in at WR for a year) - not a highly regarded incoming talent in the lot of them, a couple of them filling in "out of position" - and getting solid production, was really amazing in retrospect.
Much, much, much better than the productivity we have gotten from a roster full of 4 star WR recruits each of the last several years.

The one big-time recruit was Chris Bell (who did show some early flashes of ability) - until the day he had to be disarmed from his knife attacking a fellow player (IIRC, it was McQueary who disarmed him)... along with a year of two of Justin Brown (the kid who transferred to Oklahoma when the **** hit the fan).

Chris Godwin, Allen Robinson, Jahan Dotson KJ Hamler, Parker Washington, Daesean Hamilton, Juwan Johnson. While there is a grain of truth to your post, the WR production decreased just recently. The post Mike McQuery/Joepa era saw the WRs I posted above all develop and flourish. All of the above saw time on NFL rosters also.
