I can tell everybody one thing, if you were a bus driver negotiating the snow, the passengers would be taken for a ride that they could tell their grandchildren about.

@Lincolnton I got ya covered in that scenario also

It wouldnāt be surprise to 90% of Lincolnton people. Maiden has Only been after the lynch brothers since they were 11 & 12 yrs old.Speaking of fake sports Page post. Just imagine the the chaos and breaking of Internet they would have caused if they posted him transferring to maiden. Would of been a 100 calls and an investigation within the hour
I believe they played Rec ball at Maiden. And they've made comments about coming to Maiden in the past. But don't act like y'all haven't tried to get some kids from us like smyre and khang. It wouldnāt be surprise to 90% of Lincolnton people. I donāt think your that far offOne of these days a group of kids are gonna go somewhere like Cherryville or Bessemer city and cruise to a championship.
Here is an honest question and I am not baiting any "bigger" programs to reply. One of these days a group of kids are gonna go somewhere like Cherryville or Bessemer city and cruise to a championship.
I would ask you this. Have you ever been to a game at Grimsley and Cherryville? Quite a difference in the experience. Here is an honest question and I am not baiting any "bigger" programs to reply.
In today's environment why would a top level athlete go to a bigger more competitive classification vs a smaller one? From what I can tell the top 25 guys are naming where they want to go regardless of where they play, mainly off of "measureables" , and the rest are going to have to go to small colleges and hit the portal if they succeed where they land. If that is true, what is the advantage of playing at a Grimsley vs a Cherryville IF the high school experience is the same? I can see coaching being better at one versus the other but if all variables are the same, you are going to D1 regardless the high school, why not pick the best experience for high school? If "Top 25 guys" are playing at Cherryville then the college coaches are going there too so you are still getting the college contact.
If your reply is "to have balls" or similar please skip the response, I would like to hear thoughtful responses.
Some programs are known to have college recruiting connections or eyes on them. While some programs could care less about kids being recruited for athletics. And nobody even looks at. Will always be exceptions for special athletes. But those special athletes may also get a better path to NIL at certain high school programs. Faizon Brandon QB at grimsley had a million dollar deal NILHere is an honest question and I am not baiting any "bigger" programs to reply.

No, I have not been to Grimsley, but I think we are saying the same thing. I used Grimsley as an example just because of their success. I have been wrong already twice today, but I don't think the old adage of have to play the best to be seen and "test your mettle" in recuriting is a huge thing anymore. Take any top 25 player in this state and they could play for about any program and be recruited. We are not in the mail in your VHS tape days anymore. If that premise is true, then who or what college would care if 5 DUDES went to say Highland Tech for example. They are still getting recruited to the same places and the vast majority of HS athletes are still going to have start at a local community level college no matter where they play either. Being the best HS program does not mean you are the best school to send people to college. Again, maybe I am way off base here and maybe the teams with the best wining percentages are sending the most kids to college, but I dont see it. If you want to be recruited, you better first meet the measureables then work your tail off no matter where you are. If its not about recruiting then why not be the best place to have a great HS football experience?I would ask you this. Have you ever been to a game at Grimsley and Cherryville? I get what you're saying. AMD pointed out previously that some coaches have more connections to college coaches than others and that is absolutely true. It's also true that social media allows for more exposure, so why would you need to move? Well, relationships matter. I can only speak for our program, but I have seen our coaching staff taking kids all sorts of skill level on college visits, camps, you name it. Some places leave it up to the kid/family to do the recruiting, that only gets you so far. We are blessed to have coaches who take time out of their personal lives to help our young men reach their dreams, really! I'll leave you with this. One of our players (you know who it is) came to us after a season at a school that has not experienced the level of success that we have been fortunate to at Lincolnton. Would that player be receiving the same attention had he stayed put? Would he have switched positions if he had not left? Maybe, maybe not. I do know one thing though, relationships matter. No, I have not been to Grimsley, but I think we are saying the same thing. I used Grimsley as an example just because of their success. Is uh, is there a slight possibility you might have only hinted to these players and families about where they might find a more welcoming school? And, let me guess how all of you got to talking, yāall were in the produce section at the grocery store and a discussion spontaneously broke out about the perfect texture of an avocado.Good example is former Newton coach pack. Had players and families tell me he or his staff would not send out tape or contact scouts. A player at Newton actually got a referral to a scout from maidens coach.. this player with the right coaches could have gotten an offer from a high D2 or small D1 school.
I disagree unless we are talking about different words. Concord a small school in West Virginia sent a "scout" to maiden to look at Wingate. I talked to this guy during the game. He lives in Shelby nc full time. He said the school sends him to look at local players in this area. So I don't know what u would want to call him. But seems like scout works for this situationYou do realize there are no such thing as college scouts? The coaches on staff at the school are the ones who go off campus and recruit. The ones who work in recruiting stay on campus and evaluate film sent to them by their coaches. A lot of people do not realize that colleges donāt have āscoutsā. Just coaches.
Now I do agree that the high school coaches should be sending out film and info of players who can play to coaches at the next level. However, ultimately the college coaches have to want them High school coaches tend to overshoot the level at which their players can play. And the way it is right now in the college football landscape itās really hard for a HS kid to get a chance if heās not a 5 star. Really good football players are going D2 right now.
I've known the father since high schoolIs uh, is there a slight possibility you might have only hinted to these players and families about where they might find a more welcoming school? Now you know as well as I do they'd choose Highland TechOne of these days a group of kids are gonna go somewhere like Cherryville or Bessemer city and cruise to a championship.
Do it!!!!Should I go out on a limb and say who I think next North Lincoln coach may be ?? I could be wrong but u never make the shots not taken![]()
I'd say a schools facilities plays a big part in it. I would think kids wanna play at a "nice stadium" vs what a lot of high schools can offer. Here is an honest question and I am not baiting any "bigger" programs to reply.

There is a kid on HTās team that played middle school with our boys and he can play. Absolutely no help around him.Now you know as well as I do they'd choose Highland Tech![]()
Was the the QB for Highland because I thought he had some ability, just like you said absolutely nothing around him. And your right Cherryville had a couple that could play for sure, just again nothing to surround them with. There is a kid on HTās team that played middle school with our boys and he can play. Also there were 1-2 Cherryville kids I thought had some skills this past year as well. Could really help a team.
Itās #4, he is like 6ā3ā 195 lbs athletic kid. He will play after high school if he wants to. Great kid and great family. Going to HT for academic reasons. That is what stinks because he is a very good athlete that could really help some good teams, but I also get staying at HT for the academics, but he has no chance on the football field with the team around him.Was the the QB for Highland because I thought he had some ability, just like you said absolutely nothing around him. Thats false. There are definitely college scouts. They have certain areas they work and send info to a school. Often they can work for more than one school. I actually will be doing this in the next 2 years if plans continue as they are. You are correct about the D2 route, right now is a great time for lesser known programs to pick up some really good talent. Smaller schools have to look at themselves as being in a farm system. You do realize there are no such thing as college scouts? The coaches on staff at the school are the ones who go off campus and recruit. The ones who work in recruiting stay on campus and evaluate film sent to them by their coaches. I did that also if you remember I basically said Matt Wilson would be the next head coach at NCOnly a few years ago when you said a particular team that had just won title will be losing their coach. Some, seem to be quite bothered by what you said, but I remember how that turned out. The way I see it if you can predict an outgoing, coach, you can predict an incoming coach.![]()
Iām here watching Lincolnton/Cramer boys basketball right now (varsity boys at 4:30 for some reason). I asked a few nice folks from Lincolnton about the money man coming and they are being coy.
StormSurge, Iāve confirmed that Coach Smart was at Lincolnton High School. I havenāt got a Facebook account but there might be a photo or two on the one the school has. Classes didnāt start back until later in the week because of inclement weather the week before, and it could have been on one of those closed days is when he (Coach Smart) stopped by.StormSurge, The only thing Iāve seen is posts on here. Havenāt been out and around much, but next week after the roads become passable Iāll run up on someone who knows. On page 9 of this thread, one of the posters who Iām thinking could be associated with the team indicated that he was actually here. There is definitely someone here that he could have an interest in.
Side Note: You saw the posts that AMD and some others mentioned about a helicopter going to Lincolnton and to East Lincoln, and I certainly did not take it seriously; but one day this week there was a low flying helicopter that came over this neighborhood.
I looked out but didnāt see it. The neighborhood Iām in is adjacent to the stadium area.
It isnāt unusual for helicopters to go over this part of Lincolnton, but theyāre air ambulances. This particular helicopter was much lower, and there are several places around the stadium for it to landā¦Just thought it was worth mentioning.
This might be getting confusing or maybe I am just confusing myselfStormSurge, Iāve confirmed that Coach Smart was at Lincolnton High School.
