Might be a dumb question but does anyone think we have any chance/path to upset Minnesota?

-133 UR Cannon been having very bad year
-141 If Joey O comes back can he beat #9 Vombaur?
-165 #14 Sparks
-174 #22 Riddle
-197 #25 Nelson
-Hwt Does Catka have any chance vs #12 freshman Hopke?

Would take a perfect storm pretty much.. but is there even a slightest of chance?

133 Shawver can definitely win
141 we can only win in Joey O wrestle. If not it’s a definite loss
165 Barbosa can win
174 ford can win pinto can also win if healthy.
197 cotton can win
HWT Catka can win also

We could win. Shawver will get a W. Cannon is a shell of his former self. If Joey goes, it is a W. Vonbaur having down year. Clark has a decent shot against Roberts. 165 and 174 are Ws. Our guys are better. Would go with Ford. Cotton better than Nelson. Catka has a tough opponent who is a freshman.

I see 5/5 split if Joey goes. Otherwise would need Clark or Catka to secure an upset. It is possible, we come away happy.

Sparks is back at 165 I don't see that as a win.

There’s a path to beat nearly every team. The problem is where we’re bad we often give up bonus and where we’re good, our guys too often either skate by or come up just shy of a major.

No there isn’t. There’s no realistic path we ever beat PSU, Ohio state, Okie state and a few other this year unless a meteorite hits and inj all their starters or all their wrestlers magically break a leg during the match.

Nelson just beat Shumate who beat cotton 19-5 at midlands. Barbosa over Sparks would be a huge upset and Sparks is tough on the mat. Joey O hasn’t wrestled a match against anyone with a pulse in months and Vombeur just crushed Bailey 10-1 the other night and Oliveri is 0-2 against Vombaur both last season . Crazy optimistic take. We ll be lucky to win 4 matches

Bill is in the room all the time and I was wondering what the feelings are of the staff do they feel he has a chance to be back since they know way more than any of us do about the situation

Latest Star Rag article seems to imply Friday there is a good possibility Joey returns. Coupled with Bill's excited reply above makes me even more hopeful we see him in a few days.

Obviously I don't think we will win this match.. And I don't really care if we don't!!! But what I don't wanna see is us get OUT-TOUGHED!! Minny has beaten us in the past just by being physically tougher!! BE TOUGHER!!! Why did Ford win Saturday? He wasn't better... BUT HE WAS TOUGHER!!! He physically wore that kid down after a tough 1st period... Even losing the match going into the 3rd... I knew he was gonna pull that out!! You could see it in their body language... Really need more of this attitude!!! BE A DAWG!!! Fight & scrap for every point!!

It’s been saying the same thing for weeks I don’t think they have any clue if he’s coming back bc I’m not sure the coaching staff even has a clue

I didn't see excitement. Was it the exclamation point? It would have been easy to say JO will be back for Minn, but he didn't. Goodale said he was ready to go a few weeks ago. JO or not, Minn. is not winable, but if it was, we'd still find a way to lose by a point.

Yes, the exclamation point did it all for me. 🙄 Notice Bill has not said much about when he would return. You figure he does have some inside scoop on this whole deal. I took the exclamation point as excitement from what he knows about Joey. Either that or the exclamation point infers he is pissed at answering everybody ad nauseam (which I dont think is the case). Did I really need to explain to you what an exclamation point meant? 🙄🙄🙄

Understood on the "same thing for weeks". The article coupled with that darned, emphatic exclamation point from Bill had me convinced the time was near.

I hope he does come back soon but when asked over the past month it seems like Goodale has no idea. What’s crazy to me is in the internet and instant Information age we still have no clue what’s going on and he’s been out of the line up since December 7th. It’ll be 2 months and no one has leaked any info, no reporter has gotten to the bottom of it . I can’t ever remember a situation like this. What was so bad that he was suspended for 2 months by the ncaa/university?

Think he meant Joey O will be back before season’s end and not actually back in time for Minny match.. either way I hope your hunch is right and we see him for the Minny match.

@wngarbarini is in the room often and knows a thing or two. Goody would be getting updates about what's going on and he obviously knows he will be cleared
