Not surprised to see isu near the top for most transfers with Oklahoma st leading the way. But kudos to Iowa staff for fewest at 8.

Cingnetti only 10 departures, second lowest along with a few other teams with 10.

That's really a pretty great stat for the Iowa program. Any publication or pundit doing one of those "portal winners and portal losers" pieces really ought to take it into greater consideration.

Take Oregon:
Are guys leaving because:
1. Buried on depth chart?
2. More money elsewhere?
3. Asked to leave to make room for new guys?

I would be surprised if ducks would get out-bid for their own players so probably 1 or 3 are the main reasons.
They are expected to compete for national title next year as is OSU...would not think guys would bail on that prospect.

A team that intends on having a guy play might be willing to pay more than a team that knows that guy is likely to be riding the bench.

I think the reason for this is they were considered the oldest team in college football with the average age between 22.5 and 23 years old. They had 47 players aged between 22 and 25. I assume many graduated or were out of eligibility thus the limited departures.

Teams like Georgia, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame having so few is impressive. They lost some good talent to the NFL but kept their rosters intact. They also grabbed some great portal additions to go along with top 10 recruiting classes. I think this is key in this era of College Football.

Indiana on the other hand can't bring in top 10 classes but they can retain guys and bring in top 10 transfer portal classes.

Iowa retains guys and hopes to bring in guys that can fill holes while developing stars. It's a gamble every year. I worry QB could be an issue next year. Gronowski won Iowa 2-3 games last season.

Speaks to KF having the best culture. These teams that flip their roster every year in the portal and it’s all money related, they don’t have cohesion or culture.

We’ve got a lot of holes to fill outside of quarterback too. That said the retention is critical and they did a great job with that

I agree. Just saying QB is the biggest ?. It also will likely be the main decider on 2-3 games this next season. I can see Iowa being a 9-10 win team if there isn't much if any of a drop at QB. I can also see them being a 6-7 win team if there is a significant drop in QB play.

That said I also think the guys that will be entering years 2, 3, and 4 on the team next season are more talented then what Iowa has had the past few seasons. If they can round into form Iowa will be pretty solid at every position group outside of QB. QB will make or break next years team. That is my prediction.

Why 33 idiots would want to transfer to Wisconsin is beyond me. ;)
