I am hopeful they go back to their 4 out offense next year. I would like us to find at least one strong perimeter player through the portal. Then we would use Ava, Layla, Journey, and McKenna in a rotation for our 4&5 positions. I believe McKenna will stretch the floor to help create more space for penetration to the hoop. I really believe that would open the floor for Addie and Chit Chat. It appears to me that Addie has in her DNA the desire to attack and score off the dribble. She hasn’t had the space in the triangle offense this year. I think it would be a winwin for everyone.

I like how fans think high school players are going to be like Caitlin Clark coming out of high school. Not going to happen, Journey will be your starter at the 4 to begin the year.

Not saying that will not be the case, but McKenna is on a different level than most coming out of high school

She could easily be averaging 30 plus a game if she actually played more minutes. Averaging 20 in limited minutes is insane.

From what I've seen MW is a very good passer, BUT the 3/4 court pass in the first clip is a turnover in the B1G 9 out of 10 times. She'll learn that..

10 times out of 10 a clean pass is a turnover if an opponent is in the passing lane

Hoping these numbers transfer to the college level. McKenna is a three level scorer.

Hard to know how the actual numbers will translate, What I do think will have a significant impact will be the difference in how teams will be able to game plan. Envision McKenna at the high post vs Hannah, Or on the wing, Teams sag off and clog up the middle making entry passes and driving lanes quite challenging for the Iowa offense, I believe McKenna can have an impact opening things up. Also she seems to have a pretty refined post up game.

I know its a private school, but would love to know the enrollment of Mitty. I mean its astounding to look at these clips and see like 10-15 people in the stands. Hell the kids families should be more then that. And this is a team ranked 1 or 2 in the NATION in girls basketball. I realize maybe girls basketball in Cali doesn't have the support of Iowa high schools in the winter sports, but damn.

Super. Be nice for the girls if a few of the students actually went to the games. Must be too much to do in Cali...

Actually, at home games, a good number of kids show up. The main camera for most of these games looks across at the benches, and the stands above those are visitors'.

Not many show up for the visitors because they know their team will be hopelessly out of it before the first quarter ends. I don't make the drive down there too often myself.

The Monarchs are #1-rated in the Central Coast Section by FAR. #2 and #3, they haven't faced...

#4, they boatraced by 40... twice. #6, they did the same, by 37 and 47.

We're just about to start section playoffs, and the Monarchs will meet #2 and #3 in "round robin" games.

After sectionals, there will be some strong opponents awaiting them in NoeCals. I am hoping for a Mitty v Ontario Christian rematch in the state final. However, Ontario Christian has quite a few more tough opponents to deal with in the southern half of the states.

Mitty is ranked #3 in the country, with their only two losses being to #1 Bishop McNamera by 2 without McKenna, and to #2 Ontario Christian in double OT. And that was McKenna's third game back, also the first one in which she played in more than 3-4 minute stretches.

Now, we're finally at the point where McKenna and the rest of the Monarchs will find some worthy opponents.

Anyway, the whole point of this long, meandering post is to say that McKenna and the Mitty fans will finally get some real contests the rest of the way, and that it's been kinda dull for NorCal fans this season until now.

Thanks for the input. I watched the double OT game against OC. Didn't seem like there were many at that game either, but it was a hell of a game.

I click on this thread and first thing I see is "torn Achilles." I now see the context, of course, but geesh, let's keep Achilles as far away as possible from Mckenna Woliczko's name. Pretty sure I skipped a few beats.

Thanks for the info.
Could you possibly post the schedule of the sectional playoffs with locations of games. I just might be able to get to one or more. I live in the East Bay.

The Central Coast Section playoff seeding meeting is tomorrow. They'll be put up on MaxPreps.

I'll link that when I get it, but it's easy to find on MaxPreps if ya wanna explore.

Here are the Open Division dates:

Fri the 20th

Monday the 23rd

Wednesday the 26th.

Championship: I think I saw a tweet that said the CCS title game doubleheader will be at USF in the City, but I can't find it now to confirm.

NorCal games are during the following 2 weeks, ending with the final games on March 13 and 14 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

That game was part of the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei of Santa Ana's 3200-seat gym, a very large one for California high schools... (I know, Indiana's saying "Hold my beer!)

Get 2000 people in there, the place still looks rather empty. Most HS gyms in this state hold roughly 1000 fans, and not that many games sell out until deep in the playoffs. Cali folks too busy putting the final touches on their tans so the tan holds up thru the winter.

All this gym talk (mostly by me) and attendance at HS games (mostly by me, again) gets me to thinking about a few attendance-related things...

Here's one...

I saw the incredible Jason Kidd play some 70 of his high-school games... The home gym at his school, St. Joseph of Alameda, held mayyyyyybeeeee 900 people if you shoehorned 'em in real good. Word got around real early about Kidd, and that gym was packed all the time. For big regular-season games, they started renting bigger gyms nearby. Junior colleges, bigger high schools, small colleges... But here's the topper...

One time, they played their arch-rival Bishop O'Dowd at the Oakland Coliseum, and over 11,000 showed up to watch Jason's St. Joe's Pilots take a victory. And this was a one-game solo event, not a Warriors game or any other attraction afterwards. It wasn't a playoff, either. Just a league game.

I am from Muscatine - High school gym held 2500 I think. Senior year we were rate #1 most of the year and the stands were pretty full, I think.(memory doesn't quite have a picture of the gym at games tho!)
Now in Mesa AZ. Daughters school had 1800 to 2200 (lots of drop outs during the year). Gym had no more than 6-8 rows of bleachers and maybe 100-200 in attendance (but they weren't very good).
