Phillips Dean Blankenship, Fred Johnson Mann. Are my top 5. The rest will work out
I said all yr the Eagles needed to go back to their zone scheme and get rid of their pin and pull stuff. Who ever was responsible for having the C single reach the 1 tech should have been fired on the spot, including Stout
Phillips is the one to watch. They need edge in the worst way, but may be priced out with him quickly.
I think Dean is gone. Simple math and having Campbell ready to step up in year 2.
They’d love to have Reed back at the right money. Who knows what his market ends up being? Teams may offer him more.

imo Dean was far and away their best player in the front 7 last year. Close to being their player, except they they have Mitchell and Coop.
I’d love to keep Dean, but it comes down to positional scarcity and the fact they have a high-ceiling young guy ready to plug in.
Do they go from zero LB investment to having 2 guys on big contracts in a year? Edge will make that defense tick. They have to find a solution there first, IMO.
well I just thought Dean played so well, you want edge? Put Campbell there and get them all on the field
I am intrigued to see what Howie will do. There are some interesting decisions to be made. Jordan Davis meets a contract extension, and that won't be cheap. The 5th year option needs to be exercised for Nolan Smith and for Jalen Carter. Carter's in particular will be expensive (I think @ $25.6M for 1 year). Then you get to to all the FAs.
Nakobe Dean -- probably the most challenging to figure out (for me). Jihaad Campbell did a lot of good things early in the season, which were nice to see from a rookie. However, when Dean was finally healthy enough to play, he made an immediate impact. And you could see what his presence meant to the D. About the only game he didn't have an impact on after his return was the playoff game, where, like most on the D, he looked kind of average. He wants to return, but I don't think he/his agent are going to give a huge discount for that. Ideally, they'd find a way to bring him back, but most of the analysis I've seen has pointed to him likely to be departing
Jaelan Phillips -- he really shored things up at DE for the Birds after they traded for him (around Week 10, I think). The Birds have a real need at DE, and he's as good as any FA DE that's projected to be on the market. The biggest question seems to be whether the two sides can agree on $$. As @WestSideLion indicated, the numbers for him but be more than the Birds can fit into their salary pool.
Reed Blankenship -- he seemed to take a small step backward this season, though that could be more a result of the issues the Birds were having at CB1, and against the run with Carter being limited by injury. With Drew Makuba at the other safety spot (and coming off a fractured fibula injury), and CB2 an issue, Blankenship should be, IMHO, a priority. The two sides should be able to reach an agreement on $$ that works for each party.
Braden Mann -- quietly, he had a huge season for the Birds. With so many 3 & outs on O, the Birds were frequently punting from deep in their own territory. He averaged 49.9 yards per punt, which a new punter would be hard pressed to top. It seems the two parties should be able to satisfy each other on $$
Dallas Goedert -- he was huge in the passing game this past season, but took a step back as a blocker. The Birds are really thin at TE, as Goedert, Calcaterra. and Kylen Granson are all FAs. The Birds do need to be thinking about a future replacement. Hopefully, they can find a way to satisfy Goedert for a season or two. Calcaterra was a liability as a blocker (way more so than any other TE on the roster), so while he's a descent backup as a receiver, I wouldn't make any attempt to resign him. Still, I wonder if they can reach agreement with Goedert that works for both parties. The Birds seem to question how much to pay him (and how long of a contract), and Goedert is 31, so he's on the backside of his career, and probably isn't giving a huge discount to stay in Philadelphia.
Jahan Dotson -- sadly, I think his time with the Birds is up. I feel the team grossly underused him. But for whatever reason, he almost never was targeted by Hurts, and a former #1 draft pick should want more than a few receptions a season. The Birds seem enamored with Darius Cooper at WR, so I'd be shocked if Dotson returns.
Adoree Jackson -- I have no clue what the team plans to do at CB2. Jackson played significantly better toward the end of the season. But he's clearly not as good as Quinyon Mitchell, so opposing teams will be targeting him if he returns. If they could work out a deal for not too much money, and also bring in some competition, that would work. It would be nice to see them use a high draft choice on CB, but they have several other spots (RT, DE, TE) that need immediate attention, so I'd be surprised if they used a high pick in the draft at CB.

Not sure but I don't listen to Philly talk radio. The basic criticism I kept hearing was "he sucks!" (I'm not saying that is necessarily true, but won't argue it either).
That said, I do think the Eagles wanted someone with experience and struck out. Personally, I prefer taking a shot at the "rising star" type guy over the veteran retread. Hopefully Sean is that guy. He does get some credit for the play of J Love (and Malik Willis was decent too).

I like that Mannion is a former journeyman QB. He had to be schematically smart, I think.
He’s also from the outside, which is likely at least part of the problem last year. Green Bay is good schematically. It’s the talent component that hampered them at times. Maybe Mannion brings a missing ingredient here?

Great to read. I think there’s wisdom in hiring former NFL QBs as offensive coordinators. Especially QBs who had limited physical ability and had to work hard and excel schematically to stick.

The more I think about it the more I don't like it. I really like Mannion. How you let a hall of fame coach and arguably the best or one of the top 2 Oline coaches in history walk I have no idea. Only thing I can think of is Mannion wanted complete control of the offense and Stout had to give up run game coordinator. He didn't want to do that pretty easy to see. The Oline struggled this year. I shutter to think what this Oline will look like next year. Mannion will have to do amazing scheming to make this Oline look good next year. Maybe it's Howie looking to clean house to build towards the next championship with all these draft picks. I can understand it from Stout’s perspective. He was demoted in season. Who knows whether his blocking schemes jibe with what Mannion wants to run? Rather than blow it all up, he steps down on his terms.
I just read the Inquire articles, according to one Nick is the one that demoted Stout this past yr. I think he coaches somewhere else within 2 yrs
Fraley is the Run Game Coordinator/OL coach at Detroit -- basically what Stout was. The Lions don't have to give permission to another team to interview him for a lateral move.
I forget where (maybe UConn), but I remember posting something in the CFB Coaching Carousel about Juan taking a new job with a college program.
As an analyst I believe I really think it will be someone younger. But we will see
I know Jason Kelce is making a ton of money on his podcast etc. but I would kick the tires on him to at least see if he has any interest in coaching the Oline.
Yeah, sounds like he didn't want the diminished role but you think he saw the problems last season with the run game and it needs a fixin'. Sadly, I feel like Lane will retire soon if not before next season. Would love to see Kelce step into the OL coach position but he has too much stuff going on with the Podcast, the Beer, Hank Sauce, commentating, etc. Fangio sounds like he wants to retire as well.
