It might depend on the situation. The only way he even considers a miss is if Iowa has a huge lead late in the game.Chris would want you to!
Yep break it. No way Chris Street would want anyone to miss on purpose...no wayChris would want you to!
Speak lol, it's an opinion... take your witchcraft to the OT board. It's gross to try to speak on behalf of the dead.
We should have a seance.

Maybe its a thought instead of a spoken word..."Chris would want you to"

As unpopular as it might be, I don’t think JBo intentionally missed that shot to keep him tied with Street. If Banks can beat the record he should. Otherwise, it’s a false record.I personally think he would have wanted Bohannon to make it, that was the kind of bulldog competitor Chris was... it was a nice gesture sure.
Don't let Chris' mother read this. She thinks the record needs to be renamed as a memorial.Yep break it. No way Chris Street would want anyone to miss on purpose...no way
Did you see JBo on that ff? If I remember correctly it looked like a line drive intentional miss to me. Picture anyone? As unpopular as it might be, I don’t think JBo intentionally missed that shot to keep him tied with Street. If Banks can beat the record he should. Otherwise, it’s a false record.
Oh, it was definitely intentional.Did you see JBo on that ff? If I remember correctly it looked like a line drive intentional miss to me. Picture anyone?
And disrespectful in my opinion. Obvious I can’t speak for the dead, but I think Street would be disappointed in Bohannon for intentionally missing. I understand why he did it, I just don’t think he should have.Oh, it was definitely intentional.
I agree. As unpopular as it might be, I don’t think JBo intentionally missed that shot to keep him tied with Street. If Banks can beat the record he should. Otherwise, it’s a false record.
It was absolutely an intentional miss.As unpopular as it might be, I don’t think JBo intentionally missed that shot to keep him tied with Street. If Banks can beat the record he should. Otherwise, it’s a false record.

I love the way Banks plays, and I recognize that records are made to be broken. But the Iowa free throw record is in a little different category. Nobody knows what that number would be because of the tragic death of Chris Street. That's why JBo tied it but refused to break it which, IMHO, is one of the most impressive decisions by an Iowa athlete--or any human--that I've witnessed in my decades on the planet. When Cal Ripken Jr. had a similar opportunity to tie rather than break Lou Gehrig's consecutive games streak of 2,130, Ripken ignored the fact that Gehrig's record ended only because the Hall of Fame Yankee first baseman contracted ALS, now known as Lou Gehrig's disease. That's why I have no respect for Ripken or his record. To me, Gehrig will always own that record.Chris would want you to!
That's a pretty odd take, but you're entitled to it.Given the opportunity, Tavion should break the record.
If it was about preserving the record for Chris Street, JBo should have missed the previous shot, and not taken a share of the record for himself.
It was obvious JBo missed on purpose, and how is it a "false record"? Nobody knows how many free throws Street would have added to the record if death hadn't intervened. That's what makes this record unique, as I explained earlier. As unpopular as it might be, I don’t think JBo intentionally missed that shot to keep him tied with Street. If Banks can beat the record he should. Otherwise, it’s a false record.
Everybody knows it was intentional, except for one poster, apparently, who probably believes in the tooth fairy.Oh, it was definitely intentional.

I agree.
Based on JBo’s own statement (“That record was not mine to have”), he should have missed the previous FT in order to preserve the record for Street. Instead, the record is shared.
But hey, the tale got JBo a lot of good publicity, so there’s that.
Clip below of the missed shot. Definitely not a “line drive” as suggested above. He just left it short. There’s only one person in the world who knows for sure if it was intentional.
I seem to recall the Streets telling JBo at the time that Chris would have wanted him to break the record.
Tavion should break the record if he gets there.
It was absolutely an intentional miss.
Agree on your last point, though.
Missing a FT on purpose, without making it look ridiculous, ain't that easy. When guys try to miss at the end of close games, they often make it.
So, what happens when the FT record gets broken? JBo made the point years ago…Chris will never be forgotten. His accomplishments and legacy far exceed any school record for free throws.I love the way Banks plays, and I recognize that records are made to be broken. But the Iowa free throw record is in a little different category. Nobody knows what that number would be because of the tragic death of Chris Street. And that's why I have the ultimate respect for what JBo did, and that's why I hope that, if Banks' streak continues and he has a chance to break the record, the game situation will permit him to miss so he can tie Street and JBo. But maybe that's just me. I'd love to hear what Ben and Tavion think about it.
Yes, Street's streak was still going at that point. If I recall, he went 2-2 at the line @Duke to extend his streak to 34, in his final game.Banks is in a great shooting groove right now..don't change a thing!
Was Chris Street on that streak when he died?
If his record is broken by banks does it diminish his contribution to Iowa bb in any fans eyes?
Hell no.
Agree 100%Make the FT. Chris would’ve gotten in your face bricking a FT on purpose. Also Banks is a tenacious guy, be fitting for a guy like him to break it.
We had a big lead last night. Intentionally miss one and that game is heading to OT.
