I could imagine taking the pressure off Deal by starting Stremlow. Addy gets to see the game flow before going in at the midpoint of Q1.

For the season (I know that's not a perfect measure), McCabe averaged 27 minutes, 20 for Stremlow, and 15 for Deal. If Stremlow and Deal divvy up McCabe's minutes, they both get around 30 minutes. Of course, that takes away a sub for Feuerbach, so Levin gets more guard time. Houston and Mallegni might figure in for more court time as well.

Chit-Chat ends up playing too many minutes. The last three games, she only averaged 3 minutes/game on the bench. In California, she better take a picture of the bench because she won't see much of it.

On the road in-conference is never a guarantee. They have some highly ranked talent on their team. They could also have the revenge factor on their mind from last year (although they've had a lot of roster turnover since then, so that might not be that big of a deal.)

They also are getting to the point where they need to start playing with desperation. They're on bubble watch and if they don't turn things around, they might not make the tournament at all. How often has it happened that a team goes from a #1 seed one year to not even making the tournament the next?

But on paper, I see advantage Iowa, particularly with our strength in the frontcourt. Their bigs are not their best players by any means. And they only have 2 players (Dunn and Jones) who seem to be a threat from the 3.

Not going to be easy but if they play like they did against OSU then it's a W. I think they are gelling at the right time. We'll see, nothing is guaranteed.
If they play like they played against OSU they can play with anybody in the country, including UCLA. Of course if ifs and butts were candy and nuts we'd all be even fatter than we already are. 🙃

As you said, I don't think last year enters into it at all, unless its the coaches, (and they were treated very well i a great atmosphere). They probably only have a couple of players on the team that were there last year. Between graduation, transfers, and Juju being out this is a totally different team.

A preview of the USC game from USC analysts. It's always interesting to hear from the other side. They were very complimentary of our players.

"Also, USC needs to push tempo on this game because of the way Iowa defends. They contest threes, but we need to be able to make our threes for the ones that they're not contesting. Getting points in the paint is going to be difficult."

Iowa sits at 67.5% for the season. I foresee a close game. Hit those 4th Q FTs. Keep the ball in Wright’s hands late.

It's an interesting dichotomy on this team. In conference play Iowa has 1 bad FT shooter in Hannah(54%) and 1 horrific FT shooter in Hays (18%) that are pulling the average way down. The rest are excellent or not bad. CCW, Deal, and KF are all +90%. Even Ava has her percentage up to 74%.
