NU has Michigan and Illinois this week, so they can jump WAY up in KenPom
They will not... They will most likely still be behind both of them and somewhere near 8th. Kenpom and Torvik do not like Nebraska, doesn't seem to matter what Nebraska does there is always a reason they don't deserve it.

It uses preseason projections for awhile, but they have no current effect by this point in the season. It does not use previous seasons as far as I can tell.
We were projected to beat Minnesota by 5.5 points. We won by 19 and stayed in the same spot. It says it is big on margin, but it really seems like Nebraska doesn't move even though they have beat their predictive metrics all Big 10 games except Washington.

KenPom also had us losing Indiana, Illinois, Michigan state, Ohio state, OU . It’s been awful and will be strong again which I’m here for!

We were in the 20s not that long ago. Our defensive rating, especially, has been on a pretty consistent climb over the last month, which lines up with the eye test. The other thing that I'm sure is hurting us is that wins that we thought were pretty good have turned out not to be. Very close neutral wins over kansas st and OU, who are now 88th and 65th.

The ratings are saying we would be a 2.5 dog on a neutral to #5 Houston. That feels pretty accurate to me. It has us as about 11 dog to Michigan on the road, which again, lines up.

It's all fine. Trust me, I'm sure Fred and staff is using the "no respect" angle to max effect. The fact the Huskers are on the road at 20-0 and they know that NOBODY believes they can win this game is a good thing.

While I agree - I just dont like the way we match up. We are not an athletic team. And any win on the road in conference is tough. Im not saying we dont have a chance tomorrow - but I think its a fair assumption that our first loss happens.

I’m expecting the winning streak to end tomorrow night - and that’s okay if it does. Michigan on the road is not a ‘must-have’ game.

Purdue and Illinois at home ARE significantly more important games. Illinois, especially, as their schedule the rest of the way is the easiest of all the contenders for the B1G regular season title.

OTOH - if we’re only interested in seeding for the NCAA tournament, NU has a crapload of wiggle room. They could lose 5 or 6 games and still be a top 4 seed.

I completely disagree

I feel we are Michigan's kryptonite on defense. They are a fast break team and we are the best at stopping fast break points.

I don't like the matchup in general, but Wisconsin wasn't exactly an athletic juggernaut either and they beat Michigan. They are also a defense based on making a team beat them from 3, without much inside success. Hope we are ready to shoot, as thats an advantage on paper, with Michigan being an okay but not great 3pt shooting team.

Been waiting to say this for so long... Better than Creighton has ever been ranked and probably ever will be ranked. Etched in stone for me to use every time one of their fans talk crap down the road in the winter months or standing by me on Saturdays in Lincoln.

Nebraska IS better than you will ever be right now.
The jays were lucky to ever hit 7. They are totally done. Mac is quitting after this year, he hates the AD and the AD hates him.

Plus he hates his team.

This is all and well but has it traumatized the lower and mid level big10 teams enough? Are Ohio St, Iowa, USC constantly on their board crying about their coach wondering how Fred has turned around the program while those teams stay a level below? Do their fans cry because maybe their record only increased incrementally rather than an instantaneous jump? Should everyone else in the Big 10 fire their coach because they didn’t do what Fred had done so far this year?

It must be tricky, trying to squeeze a few licks of Matt Rhule's butt crack into a basketball thread.

Well OSU is ready to bounce to a new coach.

USC has Muss, who has a pretty good track record but also loves to leave jobs.

Iowa hired a good coach for them. Their fans will love him for a bit but he will never bring in crazy good talent, so they are going to be stuck.

I thought this whole transition year, head-coach-in-waiting thing was a bad idea, but I underestimated how bad.

If not for a couple of miraculously fortunate finishes, Jays would be below .500 in Big East play, in a very down year for the league.

Yep!

I think Mac did the right thing for his buddy, to make sure he would get the job. So that was nice of him!

No I was just trying to enjoy a discussion about Nebraska basketball. Maybe you should do the same, toady.
No, you accused me of licking Matt Rhule’s butt crack when I brought up the idea of other big 10 basketball fans’ fragile psyche. Sorry about your MRDS but yes, let’s celebrate the things our basketball team is doing!

I just watched the highlights of the Michigan/OSU game. It gave me quite a bit of optimism. It was basically dead even and anyone's game until the 7 minute mark. OSU tried defending them 1 on 1 the whole game and Michigan must've had at least 10 dunks. If we shoot well we're gonna have a chance because I think we'll defend them better both transition and half court than what I saw from OSU.

Oh yeah, and Bynum is gonna look great in a Husker uniform next year.

Sorry to crack (pun intended) your code, ever-so-clever as it was.

How is the view from down there?

Listed to Fred's presser over lunch today.... reading between the lines it seemed to me like Frager's gonna play. I don't think they'd risk him for just one game so I'm hoping into existence that it just wasn't that serious of a sprain.
It was serious. Fred said Saturday it was still swollen.

OSU can match Mecheatin’s athleticism.

For the record you are comparing Hoiberg to Cignetti.

Hoiberg

Year 1 - 7-25
2 - 7-20
3 - 10-22
4 - 16-16
5 - 23-11
6 - 21-14
7 - 20-0

Cignetti

Year 1 - 11-2
2 - 16-0

You are acting like Hoiberg just started like Cignetti, and that is an irrational comparison. So IMO you are not making any sense. This didn't just come out of nowhere, Hoiberg was known for being a great college coach already at Iowa State as well
