3rd in the team race would be awesome, especially since we have.. what, 4 TRUE freshmen and a RS Freshmen in the lineup....

What's 2026-2027 look like?

125 - Spratley
133 - Forest
141 - Vega
149 - Raney?/Portal?
157 - Robideau
165 - Lockett
174 - Facundo/Portal?
184 - White/Thompson/Robb/Portal?
197 - Merrill
HWT - Ross?/Portal?

Having MAYBE 2 weights that need portal address would be wild but always looking to over recruit nonetheless.

We have two RS FR as Ryder along with Merrill are both RS FR. Both have been underwhelming but it takes upper weights awhile and each still have some runway to improve.

I wouldn’t say underwhelming. Ryder has had a tough slate but has been right with the top ranked guys. He could drop on or two of those guys in March.

The bad thing is, he most likely get one one of the Top 4 in the quarters. Then he just has to win two more to AA. His blood round opponent will most likely be a guy seeded to AA.

Merrill, he finds a way to win. His only loss has now vacated the field. After the top 2-3 guys, it’s a dogfight to finish out the podium.

1/4 losers are in the blood round so Zack would need 1 more win to AA

Over recruit and transfer in over are two seperate things.

I don’t know that we play the transfer game much moving forward.

Not sure if they plan on Ross going as a true or not, so we might see one there?

On the rest of your post, you are looking to transfer guys in over one guy that has quietly moved into AA rankings at 49, another guy that has had a gauntlet and still finds himself in AA ranking territory and a freshman that has also had a gauntlet and also finds himself in the top 10.

At 49 and 74, you’ve got guys that needed to knock off a little rust. At 84, you have a freshman that has also not seen much mat time in over a year.

All that to say, those guys will be fine.

We will lean on the portal less, but as long as PSU is still using it, we dang sure are not to the point where can't improve via portal additions. I am not going to call for anyone's benching until after NCAAs, but anyone who doesn't score at least 10 points should be concerned about getting recruited/portaled over. See Travis, Teague.

This is a hyper competitive room, and guys who don't deliver on the chance they are given will be at risk of not getting another chance. That might not seem nice or fair, but it is the reality of a hyper competitive environment.

I didn’t say we won’t use it. I said you will see it less.

PSU has one transfer in the lineup. We will look more and more like that. But yes, I agree, if you aren’t scoring points in March, somebody will be found that will.

The thing is, transfers are missing a ton. It will have to be the right sich, or it won’t happen. Figs, Bailey, JW, Taye, etc. are creating more of the cautionary tale about the portal.

Yup, my bad.

So say he gets the 10 and loses in the quarters to the 2 seed. He’s probably got the 6 seed in the bloods.
No it would be an easier match then that unless the 6 lost before 1/4. If the 6 lost in 1/4 they would be in the BR as well. All 1/4 losers wrestle a guy who lost before the 1/4 in BR. But in the scenario with him being the 10 in the R16 he would have the 7 Fishback/Mantonona/ Allred type of guy

33 is arguably the toughest weight.

I think Robi makes the finals out of the 3 seed.
He hasn’t quite looked the same since that Taylor match. Hoping we see Landon create more attacks and would like to see him work for back points more, like Vega and Forrest. Just my observations as someone who’s just a fan with no wrestling experience.

He's had two matches since Taylor. He teched the guy from OU in the first and then wrestled a controlled match against his former teammate in the second.

No worries, but he literally dominated in mean fashion in his follow-up.

Then, he Wrestled his friend.

No worries on Robi!
