In other words, a replay of Super Bowl XLIX -- the one where Pete Carroll, despite having Mashawn Lynch in the backfield, chose in the final minute to have Russell Wilson throw a pass on the goal line that was intercepted by New England cornerback Malcolm Butler, who had practiced for the precise play the Seahawks ran.

Dumping Darnold or drafting Zach Wilson - hard to say which was worse. At least Minnesota shares in the fickle finger of fate shame

Weird that NBC has the Super Bowl this year with the Winter Olympics. I assumed Tirico would be the studio host for that. I guess with them being in Milan/Cortina, coverage is over at that time and can lead right into the Super Bowl. I am going to be skiing in Meribel/Courcheval at the time so will miss my first Super Bowl in years. Will catch up on it the next day since I will be with a lot of Pats fans.

Super Bowl and Olympics are both streamed on Peacock (NBC stream) this year. People can drop their $82 YouTube TV for $11 Peacock.

Scriptwriters gonna have the Seahawks get their revenge on the Pats for inexplicably passing on the 1 yard line last time. Jets and Vikings fans proverbially kicked with golf cleats over seeing Darnold win a Lombardi.

The worst play call of all time.

At least the Jets have a SB win albeit almost 60 years ago. Vikings are still hunting for the NFL's Holy Grail.
The Vikings drafted McCarthy and dumped Darnold because they didn't want to pay him and didn't think they could win a SB with him. If he wins a SB with Seattle, that's a double kick in the nuts.

I heard an interview with Pete Carroll. The interviewer called it "the worst play call ever." Carroll said, "no, it was the worst play result ever." Carroll thinks he was right to call a pass in that situation because he had only one time out remaining. But Lynch was so effective in short-yard situations that he was almost certain to score.

Belichick gambled that Seattle would do exactly what they did, and it resulted in a victory.

The odd thing is that New England practiced against that play -- which shows how prepared Belichek was -- but could never stop it in practice. But Butler came though when the play was called; you can see from the videos that he reacted instantly and so he beat the receiver to the ball.

Amazing that Darnold joins the like of Manning, Brady, Mahomes as QB's to win 14 games in 2 seasons or more. I believe Brady did it 3 times. There may be one QB I am missing but, that is nuts.

For that reason alone, I want to see him get a SB win too. Jet's really are pathetic.

The only reason I would not be upset if the Patriots win would be that Vrabel didn't need Brady to win a SB for him...

And the winner will be:
For the 2026 Super Bowl (Super Bowl LX), New Jersey's
Lady Edwina of Essex, the groundhog prognosticator at Turtle Back Zoo, has predicted that the Seattle Seahawks will defeat the New England Patriots. She made this prediction on Groundhog Day, February 2, 2026, where she also saw her shadow, forecasting six more weeks of winter

Is it me or does the SB just not have any juice this year? I'm admittedly pretty meh on it this year.
I’d agree. Patriots have been a million times, Seahawks aren’t on many people’s radar despite how good they are. Good quarterbacks but not the marquee names we are used to. I’ll be happy to watch on game day but it does lack the usual star appeal

They even went out of their way - in the first two minutes or maybe less of their coverage last night on NBC - to show him in Santa Clara, walking the stadium grass and talking about the fact that they were covering both this weekend. I thought that was really weird.

Its a replay of NE and Seattle without Brady and Lynch - and no Lenny Kravitz. I'm only watching because of Darnold (who was a good guy I knew the Jets would screw-up)

Should sit heavier on Minnesota. Dude won 14 games for them and had a great season- Jet's are just the place all QB's go to fail.
