The Heisman trophy winner was in the portal. Denver’s and Seattle’s starting RBs were transfers before the portal was even a thing.
That there is skepticism is proof that people see through HCMR's bullsh!t.
Him coming out after the fact saying he likes the room as-is feels like a guy who get left at several alters.
This isn't the 1995 depth chart. This room is much weaker year-over-year and it was important to improve. HCMR didn't, and is now retconning his failure as an all-the-while intent to stay the course.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Very few expected EJ to have the year he had this year. Not many expect Nelson to have a good year this fall. We’ll see. He has in fact put some good things on the video. Until we have a successful returning all conference kind of back, nobody is going to be very confident of our RB room. Saying this is a terrible RB room is conjecture. Rule hasn’t even practiced yet.
And DJ Lagway was considered the best QB in the country. Who was talking about Mendoza. We were hyping our own QB# possibilities.
Not to mention playing at Cal. Of course hes going to upgrade for the money. No one was expecting him to be the Heisman winner.
I'll give you this. The best players from the best teams aren't leaving unless they get millions thrown at them.
Simply saying the people in the portal arent the best players in the country with obvious exceptions.

I've followed the recruiting game for 40 years. I swear that for any four star that Nebraska gets in on late or fairly late in the process the failure rate is 95%.

Ok. Guess the JC world can’t get enough of 6’4” 300lb power forwards. IMO, kid seems to want to delay his entry into adulthood.

95% might be too low. I'm struggling to to think of any good examples of the other 5%.
It’s going to take a better team than last year’s, to make 7 wins this coming year.
I know this is an old thread, but if NU loses one of those 1st three games they are not winning any more the rest of the year. Ohio, Bowling Green and North Dakota should not have a fighters chance. However, the more and more I watch Rhule’s teams Iowa school for the deaf may give us a run for our money.
Why... because when a team has the letters "I o w a" on their jersey Rhule pisses his pants and forgets who he is for 3hrs
I hate Iowa more than your brain can process. What I hate more is getting hear about it from their dumb *** fans, because Rhule gets his own *** handed to him every year. I would love nothing more than to have this years team actually win a game that matters, until than you need to deal with the truth

With the schedule we have, I’ll take that. That will mean the team has improved. Happy? Not really. Depends on how the losses look.
Best case scenario is 5-0 start and Rhule’s silver tongue works magic in some desperate ADs ear and he jumps ship before the storm
