Think I have heard something similar to that!
Somewhere, KF smiled when Ben said that.
I posted it in the other thread, but at least Ben said this after a win, KF did it after an awful loss to Nebby which pissed off a lot of fans.

There is something special about Ben McCollum and the Hawkeye's men's basketball team. I have adopted them. Perhaps it is because Ben was born in Iowa City. He also presents a fine persona on the floor during a game. Yes, I curse them out when they throw the ball to the other team (women's team does a lot of that too) or miss a free throw, but the talent is there when they sync the players on the court it is great. Don't piss Bennett off if you are playing against him. He'll come back harder right at you on the next possession! We saw it in the 2nd half. Banks - you can take him to the bank. Sage is a beautiful hunk of sausage
Definitely a big difference. If Iowa blew this game as 15+ point favorites vs. Rutgers and BMac had said that afterwards, that would not have sit well with me or anyone else. I almost wonder if he knew the "that's football" story and was actually doing this as somewhat of a tribute to KF.

Yeah, they played some tough and tight defense throughout the game. Halfway through his first season we can't expect him to just walk into any Big Ten arena, home or away, and come away with an easy win. I don't care who the opponent is. Every team has good players, and you have to flip a coin each half to guess what reffing you're going to get.

I was at the game and they looked to me like they were playing 2nd game of back-to-back nights. Sort of lethargic mentally and physically.stuff happens in games. last night, it looked like their heads were somewhere else.

Big change for a lot of these guys (Drake 6) who, 2 years ago were playing DII, then last year their first year of DI, and today getting into the physical grind of BigTen ball. Not to mention a couple (Cooper / Sage, Jirak, Koch, Thompson, Lil McC) with their first year of major minutes in college @ DI, Alfaro getting his first taste of major DI compared to Mid to lower-level DI and Hausen adapting to a more disciplined style. Hopefully they get their second wind and the bodies and minds get acclimated to the changes they've all made from last year.
