Tan Tom has quietly put together a pretty incredible duals team. Like it or not our winning streak will be tested. I feel confident but if like last time we have a key injury things could get concerning.

Wrestlestat has it 18-12 the good guys, with tOSU winning the first 3, and 4 of the first 5. I have several disagreements there.

They also have Marisola beating Feldman. Flip that result and you have a 15-15 tie.

From a pure rankings perspective we may see 8 of the nations 10 #1 kids in that one dual. I have never seen such a loaded dual. This matchup eclipses the last dual of the century from that point of view. Expect Flo to focus on Tan Toms path to victory the whole week prior.

My money is on Luke, but a Bouzakus cradle and pin could up end the apple cart, and for comparison purposes, Mendez Tech'ed Bailey this season. There is a minor argument they could out bonus us. Unlikely but certainly not impossible. With a 125 pin, It could go 6-4 good guys, and with bonus tOSU could still have a path. Granted I think both Mitchell and Barr to deliver on this front as a counter, with SVN, Levi and Duke certainly capable of bonus as well.

The anticipation will be palpable. Here's to the hope that both squads come in at full strength.

No.

Two things.
  • You used Wrestlestat predictions as part of your analysis. FAIL
  • You stated that we could win six matches and tOSU still has a path with bonus - what???????? Even with Bouzakis pin & Mendez TF that you proffered, they would still need two additional bonus points and we would have to have 6 decisions. Please, please, please make this case for me so I can have one laugh on a Monday.

I'm curious about feldman vs Mirasola. Feldman gets beat by Kueter consistently I think and Mirasola looked controlled in the Kueter match but Feldman is such a good athlete and more physically mature. I've always been irrationally high on Feldman, and Kueter honestly but I definitely think Mirasola and Feldman currently stands at a coin flip.

Mirasola biggest enemy is guys weighing 30+ lbs more. Feldman isn't a huge heavyweight. I wasn't surprised Mirasola beat kueter and won't be surprised if he beats Feldman.

I think ohio states only guarantee is 141. Meet is at state college. Hopefully that swings a toss up or 2.
No matter the result, you can bet Tom Ryan will have his wheel of excuses ready. The only questions are where it lands this year, and where he Tweets his complaint from.

Bouzakis is definitely dangerous, perhaps most so from the bottom position, so Lilledahl needs to avoid rolling around on the mat with Bouzakis. I wouldn't be surprised if LL chooses neutral and concedes the escape point when Bouzakis chooses bottom.

Probably a one TD bout at 133; both guys are tough to score on.

anOSU will almost certainly get bonus at 141. But I doubt there will be bonus at 157 or 174; all four guys in those two bouts are pretty solid.

Edge to Feldman at 285, though at least Mirosola won't be at a huge size and weight disadvantage.

Nothing against Zach Ryder, because I hated to lose him and still want to see him do well. But TOSU match with Zack wrestling 184 for PSU and Rocco wrestling for the Tanners could have made things even more interesting.

After watching each of them wrestling this year, I can see why Zach made what appeared to be a quick decision to transfer. Rocco is the alpha dog.

The winning streak will be tested in the sense that we could lose multiple weights instead of 0 or 1. I don’t see a real threat, though.

125 Lille MD Bouzakis. It’s pin or get majored for Bouzakis. He can’t actually wrestle with Lille
133 Blaze dec Davino. This is really very close to a 50-50 match and probably the single match I’m most looking forward to in the entire dual season, which means TanTom will probably have Davino duck the match. I hope Blaze rips McCrone limb from limb if TanTom ducks Blaze.
141 Mendez TF Davis. Hopefully, Davis can hold this to a regular decision or even a major, but Mendez is next level. Davis has a better chance to shock the world in March.
149 SVN MD Stiles. Stiles isn’t the same tier as SVN.
157 Duke dec Cannon. Duke takes over #1 for good.
165 Mesenbrink TF Paddy. #1 overall big board recruit vs #70. Wait, what?
174 Levi dec Kharchla. Could be MD, but Kharchla is good defensively.
184 Rocco dec Fishback. Rocco is just starting to explore his powers in the PSU room.
197 Barr TF Geog. Next question.
285 Feldman dec Mirasola. Cole could win if the match score is really 25-5 at that point and momentum is in our side, but in a vacuum, Feldman is the favorite.

25-8. sweating bullets.

Gonna be a great dual meet. Can’t wait.
Agree. I have great seats at BJC, but, I’m being forced to attend a family meeting on Feb 13 in Georgia. If PSU / Big Ten would publish the schedule earlier (say August) we could avoid such damn conflicts. I put the tix (2) up

A lot of toss-ups. PSU has three clear favorites 149/165/197 bonus possible in all three and OSU has two clear favorites 141/HWY with bonus expected at 141.

174 should be considered a clear favorite but it’s probably a one take down match so leans toss up.

Leaves you with 4 toss-ups that probably split 2/2. Feels like 7-3 or 6-4 in matches with a couple of bonus point advantage to PSU.

It's a guarantee Tan Tim ducks at either 125 or 133 or both and an absolute guarantee he ***** at 165 and 197. This is how everyone wrestles us in dual meets now.

Is 174 a tossup? I mean Kharchla got an early TD against Haines last year - this is going to happen every once in a while, and then Levi came back got a TD and also rode the snot out of him to win.

Basically, every guys hope for an upset against Levi is to get a TD against him and then to stave him off for a victory. Kharchla got the TD and still couldn't pull it off. It's not a tossup. Kharchla would be lucky to win 1 out of 10 against Levi.

OSU's 'historic' 2022 recruiting class is running out of time to distinguish itself. They are now 4th-year Jrs or Srs with the top dog (Mendez) graduating after this season.

This year's team is by far the best they've looked since 2022, but a 0-5 dual record against PSU would be a big disappointment for such a historic class.

Maybe this will be the year; we'll see.

Think about this. If all goes well, PSU 'could' have 8 wrestlers ranked #1 coming out of that dual, maybe later. That is something that never has or never will be done again. We should have 6 right now.

Being as PSU only loses Haines this year I think PSU is capable of starting the season with 6/7ish #1s and depending on Ono, The 174 replacement (duke?James?henckel?), and Mirasola you could see it happen again next year.

Both the Bucks and the Cowboys have really good teams. Nebraska last year was really good and have underperformed so far this year.

Some teams are chasing PSU and getting better. Good for them and good for college wrestling. Iowa is not one of those programs.

OSU has a path to win. They are more likely to score less than 10 team points.
