In Stein's first year, I don't think any position group will really and truly be "complete." We got an extremely late start in the portal because of Oregon's run.

That said, I think OLine has a lot to work with and so does QB. TE is also looking good. Not sure I feel overly confident with any group on defense, but we've added quality players despite some departures. My biggest concern is depth in the back seven with a 4-2-5 defense.

The scheme should be able to handle spread offenses (including Chumlee's), but you've got to have the Joes too.

Overall, I think each position group has talent, but it's thin and spotty. Gonna take another couple years of recruiting high school and portal to get things to where Stein wants them.

Thankfully, that time frame also gives Stein a couple years to grow into a HC.

It will hopefully be nice to finally match up with UT. I got sick of having Stoops lose 60-20 every year.

I'd like to see a completed roster. Feels like he brought in a bunch of depth for both lines and the secondary.
I think the more interesting group will be the offense. Feels like Willie Rodriguez was a priority and hopefully will play a huge part in the offense.

So UL took a bunch of guys from a UK team that quit their last game. Good luck with that.

I love the star power of this first portal. I am concerned about the depth. SEC is unique because it has zero easy games. 9 all out wars will test everyone's depth.

I really think it will hurt the league overall, because when these teams get to the playoffs they're going to be decimated. Injuries in the secondary cost Georgia in that ole miss loss. Ole miss lost alot too, and it showed vs Miami. It will be even worse going forward.

It’d be nice to see a depth chart or a roster with all the changes.
Feel good about defense line which should strengthen everything behind.
Safeties look set.
If Oline is good, then Stein can prove his offensive wizard reputation.

But we didn't get a late start in the portal, not sure why everyone keeps saying that. As soon as stein hired the assistants, they went to work. Stein has been well noted at pulling double duty. We pulled almost 30 young men already, there was no late start. Several good ones I might add. I do think they had to be picky a bit because, A- we needed a lot and B- you got to spend your money wisely and by that and just over all change of the staff and roster, there will be some holes but a roster build is always takes a couple years, unless you are Indiana :)

It seemed pretty clear when Stein was splitting time between here and Oregon that we were getting most guys when Stein was on campus and able to either close deals or give the go-ahead on contracts... Or both. Radio silence when he was on the West Coast. I haven't run stats or anything, but anecdotally, I'm convinced stuff wasn't moving when Stein was off campus.

What position groups do you believe are set or almost complete?
What position groups still need the most work?
I’m not following these dates closely but only the period to enter the portal has ended, correct? Are guys still visiting on campus? I’m sure there are still uncommitted transfers out there, what’s the point where it’s too late to enroll?

Safety and OLINE we put alot of emphasis on in the portal so I think those spots are probably sound now ...

QB: How good is Brennen Ward? Is Matt Ponatoski fully committed to football? Will Luke Moga (or any Oregon players) follow Will Stein to Kentucky?

WR: Is Shane Carr official? I hope we can add one more portal WR with upside. I also hope DJ Miller plays this year like he did against Tennessee last year.

Defense: I have no idea.

Yeah painfully thin at all positions. I expect a few more names to pop up but I don’t know if they just start taking players to fill spots. I think they have a few under the radar guys
I'm not following you on thin at all positions, WR would be one where we are a little thin but other then that our lines are stacked up pretty good.

Looks like UK actually signed 3 QBs out of the portal?

WR definitely a concern. I think we need at least 2 more from the portal.

Both lines appear to be in good shape. Would like to add a couple OL in February for the future. Berymon on DL.

LB feels a little light even at a 4-2-5.

DB seems solid for this season. Some quality transfers and some promising young returnees.

The injury history of several skill players is of note. Won’t dwell on that though.

WR is the elephant in the room, IMO.

Overall, a fan of what the staff did in this cycle.

Don’t want to speak for him. But, I think he meant we’re thin at the WR positions, X, Y, Z. We have a cpl of TEs who should be serious weapons & that’ll compensate a little for the lack of depth at WR. But, we’re definitely too thin & need to add at least a cpl more.

How does Ashton Cozart factor into the WR rotation? Does he have the talent/skill to get on the field next season?

I think the obvious question is Wr….there is a ton of unknowns…Qb is a huge guess with a guy that never played../but you have to feel a ton better with Stein track record vs Bush

I'm not seeing any glaring weakness at all, also the safety position is pretty deep ,its going to help with his 5 man DBs in his base set .
