Rutgers has 2 of the 3 biggest recruits in school history coming in next season. Those level recruits usually help bring a few higher level recruits ( Ashnault was a big reason for the Suriano transfer) so I think it would be fair to see what the team looks like with those guys before Goodale is on the chopping block (pun intended).
Having big name recruits come in could also help with the most pressing need in my opinion which is a big name assistant coach. I don’t blame any ncaa champs or big name assistant for not wanting to come here and coach a team whose best wrestlers are a burned out 133, a R12 141 wrapped up in a scandal/team rules violation ,and burned out transfer at 174. Next season add Knox, Little Harer plus adding Harer and Chapman to the lineup plus an AD whose seems like she ll help invest in the program and all of a sudden that Assistant coaching job/coach in waiting job is a lot more appealing

Pritzlaff was a huge loss. Not to mention Seabass and Buxton heading out with him. The fact that Donnie was able to have a better coaching staff than goody with less resources is a glaring issue within the program.

Look back a few years to when I was talking about process. No one here understood, and no one could explain the program's development process. I doubt that's any different now. It was glaring to me that there was no comprehensive process. For those that still don't understand, what is being seen now by so many, and without Pritzlaff there to apply Band-Aids, is that very lack of understanding of how athletes need to be developed in multiple ways. At one point, I was going to define what a development process would look like, but the Giggle-Bros attacked it after my first statement. It's unfortunate because, at a minimum, we could look back at it and see how today's observations would have been addressed. And if Goodale was capable of broader thinking, he might have benefited from it.

I think I remember and I’ve been saying the same thing on the wrestling and basketball boards for many years. Giggle bros is hilarious and I’ve felt their wrath.

Wait and see? He has had decades. If the right name is available to take the program to the next level, the AD can't wait.

He built the program from on the verge of getting cut to a top 20 year in year out so they won’t move on unless Goodale retires or if the program bottoms out like Michigan state. Team currently has some real good young talent and 2 elite freshman coming in. They have a recruiting hook in PA and Cali and finally landed someone from Delbarton. What Rutgers need is a top flight assistant coach and get more national champs in the room

With this years class we’ll have three top 10 recruiting classes in the past three years plus two of the wins we got yesterday were from the only two freshman’s that were wrestling. Looks like his freshman are doing better than his seniors this year.

Yea barbosa ,mangro,chapman ,smith even cotton have a lot more potential then the group of older guys on the team , they’ve all seemed to have reached there peak already

How do you know the group of current guys didn’t reach their peak, or how can you be so sure they will improve and get better bc from what I seen how a wrestler is their freshman year is roughly the lvl wrestler they are for their whole career give or take(or they might have a random good season then return to what they truly are SCNJ’s words). Not just at RU but for the majority of college programs.

I remember when the current group of guys like White were the young guys there were all this talk of future is bright and list of young guys back then like how you are currently doing now. And now the past young guys are now the older guys and we are back to the cycle of saying future is bright and x and y has potential and will improve guaranteed and old guys peaked.

White Clark Shawver SCW were recruited to be room guys. Not a single soul expected them to be AAs or top 10 guys. Both Harers , Knox, Chapman all guys that have had AA expectations coming in. It’s a different level recruit.

jesse Mendez was getting blanked and beat multiple times by Aaron Nagao as a freshman, you can 100s of other examples of freshman and redshirt freshman season being the worst.
Guys get better year by year in college thats the norm. Most guys don’t just come in at the level they’ll be at 4 years.

Agreed they’ve gotta stay hungry and want to win, if they don’t keep that hunger and desire to be great they won’t be.

Why do you say Shawver was recruited to be a room guy when he was ~#70th class recruit and you say Chapman has AA expectation when he’s #68th class recruit.

Mendez and Nagao were already AA lvl guys as freshman. Mendez obv has elevated to champion caliber. Just as you can pinpoint wrestlers as their freshman season being the worst I can selectively pinpoint wrestler’s sr season as being the worst. And no, guys getting better year by year in college is not as normal as u think it is. If a guy comes in as a NQ lvl wrestler as a freshman he’s normally going be around this same lvl all 4 years on avg.

Those upper classmen Clark, White, Pinto, are still the starters and the best guys we got. Generally, you want to put the best guy on the mat unless they are RS.

Rutfan thinks Goodale is holding on to some upperclassmen too long but even after bringing in the prized recruiting classes Clark and White are still currently our best option and earned their spot.

Kid, I disagree on White and Clark at this point. This exactly the same situation as holding onto Grello for too long. What's the point when we have guys who are just as good, much younger? I still think there's a chance Pinto could get hot or make improvements by not make careless moves.

White hasn't been competitive against anyone with a pulse this year. Anyone on the roster can go out there and get majored, so might as well let the young guys get some experience and battled test.

I have not given up on Clark just yet. He has not been good but still think something is left and fonished strong last year.

Agree 100% on White. Has never really shown anything so dont see why we keep going with him but I guess if Harer RS and dont want to push Magro to 157 then best option we have

Understandable, hehe I remember when Turley, White and Clark were the young guy and people were saying move on from Grello(who was even a NQ) Donner etc and now the cycle is happening again hehe.

Hanging on, or not being able to over recruit the incumbents. Big difference.

if Shawver is getting ANY NIL, he is stealing...

RU needs a full fkng refund... he doesnt look like he gives AF...let alone wrestling well.

Goody said Gibson is likely in the wrong weight class...can he go instead of Shawver the rest of the way?
