Could be an interesting time leading up to the midterms. We played a road game at Missouri in 2015 on a Thursday night during all the protests on the Mizzou campus. It wasn't violent, but there were a lot of protesters.

I’ve knocked around the idea. One of my clients is based out of Minneapolis.

Would be a cool trip, but there’s no way to take long trips right now during school weeks. Unless they are now firing tear gas into the Mall of America or other places the wife would want to visit,, don’t think any protests would be a factor.

The game will be played outside, and it's a certainty that it won't be as hot and humid as it would if played in Starkville. Might be quite pleasant, actually.

I’m definitely considering it. I went Minneapolis once during the winter and swore I’d never go back. But I figure September will be nice. The Twins have a home series against Cleveland that weekend. If the Vikings end up having a home game that weekend, I will very likely go. Could be a good sports weekend to catch a college football game, NFL game and MLB game.

I’ve been up there in mid August and in the mornings it was in the low 60s. It felt amazing. Also the biggest mosquitos I’ve ever seen and they were angry.

Must be all of the water. They call it the Land of 10,000 Lakes and I believe it. I flew through Minneapolis on a layover back when Northwest was still an airline - I would have thought I was flying over South Louisiana if I had not know any better.

I was in South Dakota this past October for a week and we had highs varying from 60 to 93. I said something then that I thought I’d never say, the mosquitoes were worse than the Ms Delta. Odd thing was , one day you couldn’t open you mouth without them flying down your throat and the next day you wouldn’t see the first mosquito.

FYI, Minnesota plays football at Huntington Bank Stadium…

And Huntington announced last year that they’d be acquiring Cadence Bank.

So don’t be too surprised if a certain arena in Tupelo changes its name soonish…
Bank of Mississippi
Bancorp South
Cadence
Huntington

sigh.

I was on the other side of the Cadence/ Bankcorp South merger. Cadence was originally NBC, National Bank of Commerce. Some of the old Cadence became the new Cadence and some of the old Cadence became First Bank who was then purchased by Renasant. I had accounts at both of the Cadence’s. Hated the Bankcorp South Cadence so ended up swapping everything to the Renasant/ Cadence.

I had a couple of accounts with Cadence, then The First, now Renasant. The First has the best app of all of them, so I was disappointed to lose that.
The change over has been a mess as far as I’m concerned. The last one was really quite smooth.

I traveled up that way for business in years gone by, but that was way back before people went nuts. Met some pretty decent folks and we talked hunting, fishing, and sports when not focused on business. I expect that most of them didn’t vote like I do but back then there wasn’t that much real difference and no one ever even brought up politics. I expect that most of those people are pretty unhappy with the current state of affairs there. I do know one couple that moved from Mississippi to Minneapolis after retirement. They used to live in Madison but retired there since they have family in the area. Since the move they have become very outspoken members of the left and have participated in some protests. I used to think that we would make a trip this year to the game and visit with these folks and some others along the way. That absolutely will not happen now. I doubt that I will ever contact these people again and I certainly won’t be spending one red cent in Minnesota until they come to there senses. I wish that State would find a way to get out of the game or have it moved to another location. There are still good people in Minnesota and I hope that they will support appropriate ways to end this madness and corruption. I can’t imagine that the ones I used to know, other than the couple from Madison, are in anyway happy with a bunch of paid professional protesters being there. I suspect that the folks I knew from Madison fit into the category of being a paid protestor now and it embarrasses me to admit that I know these folks. I am disgusted by their recent behavior.

Was planning to, but now probably won't. Don't think they'd like my red MAGA hat. Can't think of anything good in Minneapolis. Now the northern part of the state is very likeable. Lots of lakes and would highly recommend any who head that way to go visit Lake Itasca where the Mississippi river starts. They have a really nice park and you'll get to say "I walked across the Mississippi River" and won't be lying. Pretty much anywhere outside the Minneapolis city limits is conservative thinking type folk. Of course you know what's inside......."MiniSomalia".

I’d be shocked if that trend does not continue with other banks in the southeast…. And probably MS. Huntington is a pretty sizable bank. I can’t imagine they decided to step down in the southeast and only buy cadence.

Me and the wife will be going up there, and try to catch a Twins game either the day before or after the game.

Considering it. Was up there in early summer last year and had a great time. They have a term "Minnesota nice" and the people I met were just that. Reminded me of southern hospitality. I was surprised.

Sounds like you too got caught in the everyone is being moved except you 3 cities and are on your own. Had a dozen monthly things wired up direct and I had to go through and figure out how to change the routing and of course pretty much everyone different where you find it. After 10 years of never thinking about it, needless to say I also had to reset about a dozen passwords as well to make the change. I was so 17ing pissed.
Then, I had opened my account with Cadence when I moved because they gave me an 1/8 off my mortgage with them if I auto paid. They had the gall to tell me they couldn't offer it any more since I didn't bank with them (they agreed to keep it after raising a bit of a stink). All I could think of through that CF was this wasn't my idea.

Agree with you on The First's on line system, had some nice features that of course are now gone with yet another change. At least I didn't have to do anything this time.

To Drebin's point, I think locally this one went something like this:

Bank of the South
Metropolitan Bank ------> (same people start a new bank) First Commercial ------------>"Story" Financial
Renasant

It's getting hard to keep up with them all

Was there in June 2017 and 2018, stayed in St Paul.. Hit many breweries and took the brewery tour on the train to Minneapolis. Great weather, narrow and not muddy Mississippi River was nice to see. Ventured into a Walmart in Little Somalia with it's own police substation and a cop looking at my buddy and I like we were nuts. That being said, I'll never go back as long as the inmates are running the asylum.

Been to Minneapolis twice, once on a work trip and the other to a Thursday night Vikings vs Packers game in the old MetroDome.
Martina McBride sang the Natl Anthem.
Got to tour the Vikings headquarters and practice facilities in out in Eden Prairie day of game and got some Vikings swag.
Planning on going back in September.

I wasn't going no matter what. I have to comment on some of the political mind changes though. What exactly is the point of traveling if you only want to be around people that think exactly like you do? I've found that when traveling if you are nice to people, don't rub their noses in your contrary views, and be sensitive to their views, they will almost always be nice to you. I've had some very good discussions with people I disagree with while traveling. Just be polite. I certainly wouldn't let what going on in Minnesota stop me from going to that game if I wanted to go.
