I wish he had a few more years at Iowa as I think he would have gotten even better if he had another 1 to 2 years left. I think we are in good hands with Heck aa he’s super fast and quick… just hoping he can sling that ball and be on target. I think next years going to be a special year for the Hawkeyes … hoping for the college football playoffs bound! Hey, we can all dream but I think with what we have returning we are in good hands.

I wish he could have been injury free when we got him and he was able to participate in Spring ball. What might have been!

I’m hoping Hecklinski will come thru for us, but being only 5.11 worries me. He’s small and the Big 10 is brutal! But…I trust our coaching staff will figure it out.

This is the “danger “ of the portal. Senior comes in and adjusts to a new system. Shines the second half of season and then poof he is gone. What if(how many times have you heard that) he had another year…..

I hope the next QB in will have 2 or 3 years so that after this next year, Iowa won't have to fiddle a couple of early games away because of inexperience with the playbook and teammates.
That's why Iowa didn't go after a QB in the portal. They have their guys. They've been in the system. They'll go through spring ball. They'll be ready to roll from the first snap next fall. MG missed spring ball and was still learning the playbook during bowl prep. I'm confident that Hecklinski will be a revelation at QB with his combination of speed, quickness, and accuracy to go with an intimate knowledge of Lester's Shanahan offense. You want points? Iowa's gonna light up the scoreboard next season. I have no doubt.

That's just an excuse used when failure presents itself.

Many guys are successful running an offense in year 1 with a new coach / playbook / teammates.

I have more faith in these concepts than we did under BF. Beating a dead horse but how many years in a row did we hear, experience at QB or not that the 'system was tough to learn, playbook was big, took time to learn, etc, etc.'. Then we got the run of 'we slimmed down the playbook, new route trees, etc, etc.
It was just smokescreen that we lacked talent and production at WR and the OL from 21-23 especially, and I won't even go into QB and we trotted out some of the worst D1 QBs ever...so glad TL is here and rebooting it all!
