I agree with y'all that he is overdoing the poor mouthing, but to me it seems like he was doing that just to set up the story he had already decided to write about Arnett. ZA handles all those types of topics beautifully, comes off as genuinely confident, and backs it up with actual stats - not that anyone in the media pays attention to the stats. They know what they think about State before he answers.

But I actually like it. This article sort of gives us (begrudgingly) some respect for succeeding in the tough neighborhood we live in.

Please, national media, continue to sleep on moo-u, downplay us, tell us how difficult it is to win here at poor ol pitiful State. I much prefer it that way.

I think prior to the arrival of Jackie Sherrill and before the SEC became so rich and dominant you probably could have made a good case that MSU was the hardest coaching job in college football. We are nowhere even close to being that today though.

That's not how games over .500 works. It's wins minus losses. Might make more sense your way, but nobody does it that way.

More like a mid-level F-150. The legend of how good that team was is more myth than truth. It wouldn't have mattered who the coach was, Fitz was not a consistent passer. I suspect Joe's first year we would have won one more game with Mullen, that game being Florida.

It may not be incorrect but it’s also a very odd way to state it, especially when you’re talking about coaches that won’t coach again at the school. Nobody is taking the wins away. So, you’d have to lose 2 games to be .500, which is why people say 2 games above .500

Since the 2012 SEC expansion, this is the number of regular season SEC wins for each team (most teams played 90 games):

But even that would have been largely ok enough for a Year 1 in a major transition. I remember our fans sticking their noses up at us accepting a bowl bid at 3-7. Well there’s not much difference in that and 6-6 all things being equal.
