I tell Payne and moreso Hines to play like prime Charles Oakley. Pick up a flagrant or two. Remind UCONN that the Big East isn’t supposed to be a walk thru.

We have the bodies, Godswill can play after the fouls add up. If UCONN wins at least make sure they know it wasn’t fun.

I think this game will be won from outside shooting. Interior play will not be the key.

Watched dannys post game press after the chreighton game. He complained about how physical our refs let the league play, says it dorsnt help the conf in the tournament, i somewhat agree with him. But for this game, get physical, get danny to go nuts and get him a T. I do worry that uconn will be prepared for our press leading to easy oprn shots for them. Hoping sha and staff have a tweak or two to throw them off their gameplan

I agree with this. We’re always outgunned from 3 by design + talent. But to pull this upset we need one of those good 3PT days.

Where’s David Tubek when you need him? 🤣

This game we need to win in the 60's. Rock fight. We aren't going to compete in a shootout. Do what we've done most of the year. Tough defense. Drive to the hoop and finish or get to the line. If we can get them into foul trouble it will help.

Even though uconn is great maybe the best team in the land, to me they are still a finesse team.
Will they be able to handle our physicality is what im interested in seeing

you think it's a smart strategy for our two very good bigs to pick up a flagrant foul?

The move here, and it's a move no one employs anymore, is to have a goon off the bench do something like that. We did something like this against Syracuse in the BET during a part. physical game in the late 00's iirc. It precipitated a scuffle toward the end of the game. And it was glorious.

Pick up a flagrant or two? Pathetic.

Don’t want Godswill playing any minutes tomorrow. Would rather this doesn’t happen. Maybe Sha can pick up a tech if the team is playing horrible but neither of our bigs should even attempt, especially Najai.

I’m also not sure if that’s the best way to motivate this team. They already have a special chemistry and Sha gets them going without getting technicals, not his style. If Sha or are players are getting techs the game is likely already lost. Rather him scream at the team and try to get something out of them than pick up a tech, just my opinion.

Makes sense to me. Maybe even keep it in the 50's ala Creighton. The uglier it stays, the better.

We need to drive to the basket and dish it back out for some in the flow of the game 3 point shots. Maybe design a play or 2 to get AJ Staton McCray some open looks, need him engaged offensively to hang with these guys. He has been quiet lately along with Payne who has an issue with one of his fingers on his shooting hand. Need these 2 guys present tonight. No fouls just in your face defense all night long, we want UConn players to fall asleep tonight and have nightmares about our players blocking their shots.

Bring the game that got them here. Pressure from the start and try to get some points off turnovers and AJSM/Williams early offense (the latter which has been lacking of late).

If they can keep it close to the 10 minute mark of the second half, then rely more on Bud to control the ball and frustrate them.

Disagree 100% with the initial post. That will just make the refs then call everything which is not good for either team.

3 pt shooting on both ends, 3 pt defense and offensive rebounding will tell the tale of this game IMO. We have to do what we do defensively without Clark and Payne getting into foul trouble. And we have to be a little more balanced offensively. The last point worries me as we didn't have a lot of time to prep for this game traveling home Saturday. But this is the BE and the rest of the season will be like that.

This will be a terrific test for us win or lose. Hoping for the win and that our crowd gives a point or two with the refs and the players.

Clark worries me at home. His last two home games he got into foul trouble early. He has to play controlled early on and settle into the game. Let's go!!!

The team cannot afford the C- or D+ shooting night.

Brandon Walters is the player (goon) you are referencing. One of the very first Gonzalez recruits, but was very limited and saw deep rotation bench minutes.

We got down about 20 and he gave two hard fouls back to back and Syracuse took major exception the 2nd time it happened, and refs called the second one a flagrant.

Funny, before Danny's program reached the elite level he embraced the physical play & toughness. The Big East has been a physical league from the start. He's playing games with the media.

Officiating will be they key to winning this game tonight. If the refs call it tight (like Danny wants) we'll be in trouble. We have 2-3 players on our roster who are irreplaceable. Uconn has 0.

If you need an explanation then you’re truly pathetic.
So two of the greatest dynasties in NBA history. The 90s Bulls (Rodman) and 10s Warriors (Green) had designated tough guys/instigators. But sure what an asinine suggestion to play that way for one game. Call me pathetic again a$$hole

I sat behind the UConn bench. Their fans were obnoxious. Really ********. Then we get down by one and not only did they shut up, but they started to get that “oh ****” look on their faces. Danny, if he had it, was looking for the Mylanta! We had them by the balls. They are paying enough in NIL they could have funded two of our teams and we came back from 18 down. Losing sucks, but coming to the rock and playing SHU sucks too. Danny got into it with our student section. How he didn’t get a T with the ranting and raving in the last two minutes, was Gaffney playing like Danny was Jay Wright. It was total ********. That would have won us the game. Because they were starting to panic. You could see it from the bench.

Not sure why Gafney does so many of our games but I cringed when I saw him on the court. Nothing worse than seeing Danny dropping
f-bombs, personally directed right to Gafney, & not getting T'd up. Especially after Sha got T'd up.

After the game, Andy Katz seemed surprised that Uconn didn't have a field goal in the last 5+ minutes of the game. Not really surprising since they went to the foul line on almost every possession.
