Only 2 outliers in college football, where are you coming up with this stuff? You act as if these large buyouts happen all the time, only the 3 largest buyouts in history were over $25 million. Jimbo Fisher $76.8, Brian Kelly $53.8, and James Franklin $49. Every other buyout has been under $22 million, hell even Scott Frost doesn’t make the Top Ten, #10 on the list Tom Herman $15.4. You think Nebraska plans on paying the 2nd highest buyout of all-time?

The reason they're the highest is (mostly) because they're the most recent. That's how this works. Like salaries, they're going up and up and up. If you don't see the correlation, I don't know what to tell you. If you'd asked me 5 years ago if Nebraska would pay a top 15 salary for a 500 coach, I would have said no way in hell. Yet, here we are...

And for the record, no I don't think we're paying it this year, and probably not next. But it will get paid at some point, as will Florida State's, as will Wisconsin's, as they all do.

Mike Ekeler might make a move but Los Angeles is not a place to live unless you are loaded with cash, housing costs even rentals are ridiculous. Cost of living is one of the highest in the country traffic is intolerable and don't even get me started on crime. Right now the only thing Los Angeles has going for itself is weather and the L.A. Dodgers.

I would think USC would have to offer Ekeler 5-8 million a year and even then the taxes would eat into much of that, the politicians that run this state have run the state into the ground, it's no longer the Golden State it's the Screwed Up State. Best thing Ekeler can do is stay at Nebraska or get a great deal at a program where the state politics won't empty your bank account to pay for things.

I wonder how long the alumni big donors are going to be happy having Lincoln Riley as their HC. USC fans and those donors expect Championships and can Riley do it? Right now I view USC not as a top program in the BIG but in a tier below you now have Indiana, OSU then Oregon in that order then all the rest. Good luck Riley the natives are restless and demand more.

Why doesn't he just send out a message, or have Compton send it out for him, that he is staying. Why doesn't he just address the rumor? Saying nothing just adds gasoline to the fire. Right? The longer it goes the bigger the chances he goes.

Exactly. These donors aren’t going to fork over MORE money after supposedly forking over significant money for the portal.

If I’m a donor I see it this way:

I now have to pay MILLIONS more because YOU (Dannen) gave him an unwarranted extension because you were afraid Penn State would hire a losing coach. HA. YOU (Dannen) are out the door with Rhule if I have to fork over money to buy him out.

Fortunately for me, my donations are meager chump change compared to our top dogs. Thank you, top dogs.
It's probably the top donors that allowed the extension because they're just as moronic as everyone else running this state. Nebraska has been cruising on better than average leadership for decades, but Pillen, Ricketts and their merry band of morons is giving even California and Minnesota a run for their money in terms of leadership incompetence.

Because his agent is trying to suck even more blood out of NU. It’s a game to agents/attorneys. I say, IF he’s trying to extort more money, let him walk. Special teams isn’t freaking rocket science even though Ed Foley made it look like he was a grade schooler trying to put a man in orbit. I’m tired of getting bent over by coaches.

Silence is deafening. Best coach in the staff is likely gone. Gonna be a long next 2 years under Rhule
IF you’re Ek do you take a payraise to a head coach with a hot seat who has an alumni base with huge resources or do you stay with a coach with a hot seat with an AD with limited booster funds?

Sorry Dingle, just some sarcasm. That is always what people write when they want immediate answers.

His hand picked punter struggled at times all year. Meh. I like EK. Love the energy but I think he’s replaceable. Some would lose their mind.
I'm talking mostly about his decision to let Barney return kick offs out of the end zone - especially the third time after the first two backfired. And his decision to punt it directly to their punt returner.

There were plenty of other blunders by our special teams during the year. He definitely improved some aspects dramatically. Not all.

I feel like that was trying to placate Barney and get him more touches to keep him happy. A lot of smoke before the bowl game that he was going to transfer and as of now that hasn't happened yet.

"Jacory's too good of a player. We're trying to get the ball in his hands more often. I give Coach Ekeler a lot of freedom on that but he felt like after the second one, he said, 'Hey, the next one's going to be a touchdown.' So we did it again. He got tackled at the 14. They were winning and they weren't. We would have fair caught the last one but it went through the end zone."

Rhule from Utah Post game.
