so far it appears he got fired for no reason
there are allegations of misconduct by the players.. but determined the Head Coach had no knowledge of it.
it seems to me that the President was too weak-kneed to stand up for his own program and his people

after seeing this.. it makes me appreciate the job the U of I did when faced with the wave of protest.
I thought letting Doyle go was a big mistake.. but after seeing what Northwestern did... wow !
what a bunch of yellow bellied baffoons.

Northwestern has played in 2 of the last 5 Big Ten Championships
clearly Pat Fitzgerald knows what he is doing.
and now... the President of Northwestern crapped the bed and made a mess of things.

it will be interesting to see how things unfold there moving forward but.. what does not make any sense to me... aside from firing Pat Fitzgerald..
is the fact that they named one of the assistants as acting head coach.

Well... if they fired Pat Fitzgerald for not doing enough.. why wouldn't they also fire the assistants ?
the whole thing is stupid.. in my opinion

Stupid....maybe. But I don't think he was fired "for no reason." You don't know that.

I wouldn't be surprised if this hazing thing was just an excuse, and that Northwestern's awful record the past 2 seasons is the real reason.

If Pat knew anything so did the assistants. They should have cleaned house but who you going to get this late in the game?

They won the West division in 2020.

But more than this stuff happened, Fitzgerald was a legend in Evanston. Was still highly regarded as a football coach nationally.

Maybe his terrible record in 3 of the last 4 years played a part and maybe it didn't. I don't know and neither do you. Legends get fired, too.

My point is.....he wasn't fired "for no reason" as f6n6 claims.

I’ll rely on those close to the scene media-wise there and what they universally say instead of hanging into a wild theory. In your world Michael Jackson and Elvis are still potentially alive and there’s a chance we really didn’t land on the moon.

Pat Fitzgerald won the West 2 of the last 5 years... he wasn't fired for poor performance.

the fact that we never went to the moon is not relevant to Northwestern and Pat Fitzgerald.
try to stay on topic, boys

Not sure what your point is and why you think my saying he wasn't fired "for no reason" is so funny.....unless you actually believe that.

I never said he was.....I merely speculated that could have played a part. But it was nothing more than that....speculation.

Fact is....he wasn't fired "for no reason" as you claim.

He was fired for having blatant disregard for hazing crap going on under his watch. Whether he knew or not is irrelevant.

I never said one word about whether he knew what was going on or not. I was merely countering f6n6 who said Fitz was fired "for no reason", which is ridiculous. There most certainly WAS a reason.
