What in the heck does signing a "deal" mean now? You don't even have to honor a signed deal anymore?

Good lord, this is absolute anarchy. Why aren't these deals binding? If these kids are getting paid like professionals they should have to honor contracts like professionals. There's no way this is sustainable.

Could be leveraging more money. I doubt we can afford him nor should we. FFS build a damn team that can push others around.

They should sue him for every penny he is given next year for the school that recruited him off their roster. States should make it a crime for an agent or anyone acting as an agent to contact the student, a relative, or anyone close to an athlete before they are in the portal. Should be heavy fines to avoid jail time and every penny should go to the taxpayers.

Well IF you’re over 18 and you sign a contract, there will be repercussions.

So now DR could find a great home in Washington with JF
They are an Adidas school, but Washington appears to be willing to put up a fight. Apparently Williams signed a deal with Washington last week. Washington says they are going to do whatever it takes to enforce the deal. DRAMA

Yeah if players can renege on contracts then how do you know who is even on your roster? Colandrea could be headed to FSU or wherever tomorrow.

What happened with the Wisconsin case?
Still in court, last update was in December, judge ruled in Wisconsin's favor on discovery.

"A Dane County judge ruled for the University of Wisconsin and its athletics collective on the scope of information it can receive from Miami in a preliminary battle of the case involving the movement of a former Badgers football player.

Judge Stephen Ehlke ruled Wednesday that the list submitted by Wisconsin and VC Connect with questions and proposed documents to be turned over largely was in line with his previous ruling allowing for limited discovery.

He also decided that former Badgers cornerback Xavier Lucas, whose decision to leave Wisconsin for Miami sparked the case, won't be allowed to answer questions in writing like Miami requested.

Wisconsin and VC Connect sued Miami in Dane County Circuit Court in June, accusing the Florida school of tortious interference with the contracts they had with Lucas. Lucas wasn't named as a defendant."

There was some dorky poster that was telling me how contracts are binding and blah blah blah. Contracts don't mean a thing if you want to get out of them.

Wisc tried to enforce a contract from last year to a safety now at Muami. They sued Miami. Its still in litigation. The outcome of that case and potentially this one will be HUGE for the future of the sport.

Side note - If Im Washington I reach out to Raiola. Might be a fit.

These contracts are only binding if the player sticks around. The player can still leave at any time and then the contract is null and void. I don't have a problem with it honestly.

Yeah, this type of slime has LSU and Lame Kiffin written all over it. This kinda **** needs to be stopped. Congress made this mess. They need to take timeout from taking bribes and fix this ****.
You need to calm down. This is just simple business, don't know why you get so worked up over it.

Those judges in black robes have really made a mess of college athletics and they know it. Are college athletes due some money? yes they are but this free for all has gotten out of hand, it' is getting harder to be a fan of a school when there is no loyalty on the other end. Loyalty it seems is a one way street, all we get are good bye's with a thank you letter from players hitting the portal to the school and to the fans and in closing I'm outta here.

You make solid points but the athlete needs to take care of themselves, first and foremost. I actually like the new model as we get to see more players get chances rather than making a commitment and being buried on depth charts.

The contracts they sign should be binding. They break it they lose the money and owe back whatever they paid. So be careful signing for more than a season.

It will all be sorted out.

One thing is for sure, a more business minded approach is necessary than the fluffy PR guy we have. You either deliver or fall out of contention fast
