The only issue some people will have, is that he's only 6 ft tall. Not a big issue for me.

I believe he would be a better QB at NU than Minchey would. I would definitely take him over Chiles.

We need accurate information here. The figure you used for Colandera is Passer rating and what you use for Chiles is QB rating. They're different things. Chiles's Passer rating is 134.

I would take both. The guy who loses out can be converted to receiver and then you have a lot of room in the playbook for some trickery.

They all can be game changers with good coaching. Mendoza was an average qb until he got to Indiana. Coaching and system fit makes all the difference.

If Colandrea is the dude, we absolutely need to spend on a RT. He's not big enough to take 50 sacks plus another 60 carries in a season.

He's better than Corcoran. Corcoran is the worst OL I've ever seen. Gottula doesn't have quick feet though. He really needs to work on that.

Have you ever seen a contender team with bad QB play?

Its year 4. Lets not pretend that QB OR OL/DL is a valid answer. Both should be able to be addressed at this point. Not one or the other. At that pace it would only take like 13 years to fix all of the position groups and break 8 wins right?

The problem is we started worrying about the line of scrimmage waaay too late. Scott Frost thought is was more important to have skill players instead. On top of that, he had Greg Austin, then Uncle Donnie as the worst line coaches in the history of Nebraska football.
I mean how ******* dumb are our coaches? I really cant believe they can be that ******* stupid, but guess what. Here we are.

It will take 3 more years or even more to get out of this mess. Rhule will be gone as soon as we can get rid of him. Not only is he a less than mediocre coach, but he's got the brains of tuna salad.

What a ******* disaster.

it goes without saying that we need a proven Right Tackle along with a "signed" QB but part of the answer too is to change to Offensive scheme to a more Run heavy system (Sorry Dana) with play action pass. To that end sign me a power back. Learn from Iowa and I hate to say it, Minnesota, thats how we stay in games, for now.

That is a horrible idea. We ruined drive after drive by inserting idiotic gimmick plays our opponents saw coming a mile away. Focus on moving the ball forward with aggression, not running 2 qb formations when WR is supposed to be a position of strength.

To those who say you have not seen enough of Colandrea, I also (like Cameron) live in Vegas and saw him in person. Here is the comparison over the last 3 years over the guy we are lamenting versus the guy we are discussing.

Minchey: 23/29 212 yards 0 TD. 0 INT. Run: 9 for 96 yds 2 TD Mop up in blowouts (with a RS)
Colandrea: 627/983 7,542 yards 49TD 29 INT Run: 328 for 1151 yds 12 TD Starting in ACC/MWC

For the right price, he could be a bargain.

The 2 QB formation did work with Smothers or McCaffrey (can't remember which) playing RB. The problem is we only ran that formation in specialized situations when really it needed to be a full time thing with how deficient our talent was on offense that year.

I didnt know the goal was to "stay in games".....I thought it was to win games?

We should not be trying to replicate Iowa and Minn and teams who have less money and resources than we do.....that is a horrible business plan. "Hey I strive to spend 4x as much as my competition to have the same results as them...."

We dont need a HC that needs 4 years to get the staff right and 3 schemes to find a recipe for success.....We are paying for a leader, with a vision, and the tools to execute it at a very high and proven level. If that isnt what we are getting, than its a failure, and should be criticized as such until it RAPIDLY improves, or new leadership is in place

Get a better o line and the floor and ceiling go up on both. Im amazed that some of you take criticism of a staff spinning wheels so personally.

There are absolutely still some obstacles to success. Many of you have mentioned elements of the offensive line that must get better, Colandrea's size and thus durability is a concern. I have concerns about Dana being able to continue to improve as an OC on the running side of the offense. Even many of the fans have forgotten the types of QB's that were successful for us, and that formula from the past.


All that said, I could not be more over the moon on his commitment. I feel really good about the possibilities here.. enough that there is some hope for the future. The schedule is brutal, no doubt.. but we just need a punchers chance. I love everything in that highlight film. He might throw an interception per game on average, but his energy in that clip is just on another level.

We still need a third guy. Along with some elite RB's x 2
