Matt Rhule also said that Troy Dannen taught him that the day that he extended a 77-89 coach with a .370 conference record. 😏

The problem is I don’t think our Chubby GM boy genius realizes he’s one of the more desperate.

If Stewart & Rhule want to talk about guys being over paid, those two need to look at themselves in the mirror because they are the most over paid in the state, no matter who we sign at QB.

Can’t afford a QB. Fire Stewart & Snow and that’s $1.3MM itself
All of the people in the athletic department associated with the football team who are overpaid. But there are some people over there who must be accomplishing very little on a weekly basis because they are way overstaffed. And these people are pulling down six figure salaries. That's worse than the player salaries. Some of our players may also be unproductive and not good at their job but at least they are going through the workouts and practices.

Dylan lookin better and better by the day. Was never as comfortable as some of ya'll that we were too good to have him back
Bridges have been burned, but we would have finished with a better record with Dylan. So there is that. Wherever he winds up, I would expect his new team to get a much better version of Dylan Raiola than we did. He'll be older and wiser.

It’s getting harder to care about College Football when everyone is a mercenary and there is no longer any pride in the school you play for. Players here one year and gone the next. Or commit and then decommit a day later.

...do we really know what that price is? I know some Husler fans act like it's a lot, but they're also the same fans non stop trashing him as soon as it looked like he was leaving.
I said he was leaving long before he did. I've always said he is overrated.
The only logical team for him is Miami (Fla) and that won't happen until the Canes are done with their CFP run.

...so we don't really know then?
Nobody on here or any other fan site knows for certain what any player is actually asking for in the portal. It’s likely that a highly rated QB in the portal would try to get at least what he made last year. But yes, nobody on here knows for certain.

Are we even sure LaTeef is staying? Every year is a new negotiation is today's corrupt world of college athletics. I'm just about done with this ****.
The fact that TJ hasn’t entered the portal and put that UCLA game on video can’t be helping us land a guy who thinks he’s a starter.

I posted the spring game highlights here without comment but they were underwhelming. $2m seems like a stretch but if Stein wants him that bad and that’s the going rate then maybe we should have ponied up. Just seems like a lot to pay someone based on anecdotes that he was “close” to winning the job. For the record I thought Carrs spring highlights were much better. I seriously wonder if Minchey would’ve been 3rd string to start the year if Angeli didn’t portal to Syracuse
Exactly.

Sorsby set the market. I would be surprised if DR and his agent are asking for less than that.

So we get out bid by Kentucky...after all that talk of us having money.

Im ready to check out of this sport not because we suck - but because the admin is blatantly lying to our faces at this point.

According to CBS Sports, he made $3.5 million last year. He’s likely trying to get at least that much in the portal.

Nebraska preparing ffor possibility QB Dylan Raiola enters transfer portal.
. CBS sports has no idea what we actually paid Dylan last year. He has outside endorsement deals that MAYBE take him near that number but my “booster of substance” source said it was a little over a million. His original deal supposedly was near that 3.5 million number OVER 3 YEARS. Dylan’s agent wanted a new deal.

.. I would caution against tossing the baby out with the bath water over a back up QB who changed his mind for more money.

I suppose you can "ask" for anything... however there is absolutely NO WAY that he is going to get the same $$ as Sorsby. Sorsby reportedly around $6-$7 million right. DR will be lucky to get what we were paying for him if he indeed was getting $3.5 mil a year.

At this point? Lmao

I knew Rhule was a lying snake oil salesman the day he stood up there (shortly after he was hired) and justified uncle Donnie being the only holdover from the previous staff because he really liked the way he coached and they had such similar coaching philosophies and blah blah blah. It was all bullsh*t and anyone with a half a brain knew it.

That said, I was okay with it and was more than willing to just chalk it up as coach speak, assuming the results would follow. Well, he's continued to spew bullsh*t regularly ever since. Without the results. And I now assume pretty much everything coming out of his mouth is more bullsh*t.

Why? Indiana is still playing and they got their QB for next year.
Exactly. I wonder if some of these "agents" have told their clients to see what happens with the first wave of guys getting signed, especially if they can't get what they think they are worth. At the QB position it's more likely that some of these teams will get desperate once multiple QB options sign and come of the board. Raiola might start looking pretty good when the top 10 QB's in the portal are signed. Nebraska is getting to the point where they might have to overpay some to get a QB

If we land a solid QB, so be it. But if we now completely miss out because we were outbid by freaking Kentucky after being told that wont be an issue - then my issue is no longer the ****** product on the field (though that is a bummer). Now im more interested in why our AD is saying one thing and doing another. Not a fan of it.

Do you think its possible we could have easily matched Kentucky or outbid them, but decided Minchey wasnt worth it?

Have you ever been to a silent auction before where you could have afforded the $120 tray of Christmas cookies + santa mug, but decided you didnt want to spend that much on that item? You didnt lose out on the cookies because you didnt have the money.

Could be not wanting to pay 2M with no starting experience and still having to pay Lateff and using more money for other positions like Offensive and defensive lines.

No, I'm like Nebraska. I'm always drunk at those things and pay $200 plus and regret it in the morning because the cookies weren't that great and the mug is pretty ugly.

I think he’s counting on Oregon’s QB going to the draft. Then you’ll have both Miami and Oregon wanting a guy.

I'll accept that as a logical explanation - if we land a decent QB.

If we end up with Chiles then no - I will not agree with that sentiment.

I BELIEVE they view Lateef as a guy who they can win with and aren’t going to break the bank to pay another guy. What are we paying Lateef to stay and how much do you allocate to QBs? Still need an OT and DT at the very least and maybe a RB. Were not getting a QB much if any better than Lateef in the portal unless we find an under valued guy from a lower division like Chambliss.
