This isn’t high school. We re talking about college sports where guys are getting 6 and 7 figure deals. Imagine the football team defending a QB with a 4-15 record saying “well he’s a fantastic person though”. Or having a starting point guard that lost every big ten game.College wrestling is becoming a cutthroat business, if you want to compete with the big boys like everyone on here has been clamoring for years then guys like White aren’t going to cut it anymore. Maybe at rider where the goal is to have one AA that could fly but not in big ten country when NJ is pumping out elite talent on a regular basis
The point I think WNG is making is that Anthony is a fine person and doing the best he can at representing RU and using the abilities he has …are they elite abilities…no…but it’s not his fault we don’t have anyone better and haven’t for all the years he has started.. so incessantly ripping the kid serves absolutely no purpose because he hasn’t quit ..he has trudged on doing the best he can so why villify him for it he could’ve easily just quit, but he didn’t and until someone beats him out of his job he’s the starter whether we like it or not…

Doesn’t hurt to have a few guys boost the team GPA. But I agree, if you want to win at the highest level then you need the top tier wrestlers and coaches.
GPA? Is that still a thing, serious question not sarcasm. Same for APR…

I’m not vilifying him or anyone else. He’s seems like a great guy but I’m talking from a competitive standpoint that guys his caliber of wrestling shouldn’t be 3 year starters for Rutgers if they are serious about trying to get to the next level as a squad.

I got you on the quest for success and I agree with you. Just thought it was a bit harsh towards a guy like Bill who prizes his relationships with the wrestlers.

Well, it is college you know? Studying, learning, grades.

Exactly and a big 10 schedule as well so just being on the team is such a sacrifice for these kids, which is why I find it so harsh when Because they lose when they can only go as far as their talent will take them and Anthony White has done just that it’s not his fault that the school has not found someone better which has been the case for years so if you wanna fault, someone fault, the school not the kid he could’ve easily just quit and not go through all this, but he didn’t and I give a kid credit for that, and the maintain grades that he does as well as a testament to his character

And then on the flipside, you have knuckleheads like crackers who says that we shouldn’t put out the money for a kid with talent like Anthony Knox so it seems you can’t have it both ways if you don’t think we should pay the kind of money that these kids are demanding when they do have the talent then you settle for guys like Anthony, White and others who can only go as far as their talent will take them..

Well, who else who would you like to place the blame on… Goody can only recruit with the financial restraints that he has and go so far as those finances will take him and since you guys seem to complain about what he recruited, who else do you blame but the school because the school is the one who controls the finances, not him and the school can only go so far as the donations take them as well so it’s a catch 22 and I for one don’t complain at all. I just sit back and watch and try and enjoy whatever it is they put in front of us hoping they win?… a lot of you come on here complaining about the talent we have, but I don’t see a lot of you throwing finances at the school to help with that so it’s kind of hypocritical to complain about it.

just to clarify I have NOTHING against White , it’s just the example I was using. I appreciate how hard he’s worked. I have a ton of respect for the fact he went 3 different weight classes for the team and honestly if they just let him be a 149 for 5 years he might ve been a R12 guy like Clark was but we need guys that can win big ten matches consistently. I get it D1 wrestling is the hardest sport in the world he works everyday to get the most out of his abilities I don’t doubt that .I hope Anthony makes it big in everything he does in life .
I’m not asking for AAs at every weight but I do want guys that can compete with the 3-7 type guys in the conference, guys who atleast have a chance to make the semi finals of the big ten tournament. Ive noticed a lot of Rutgers fans on the older side are more content with the status quo bc the program was in complete shambles for years and I understand that but at some point you need to take the next step and that can be done at Rutgers and landing Knox and building from there is where it should start. No disrespect to Bill was intended. I appreciate his efforts here and giving updates and his overall love for the program from the top guys to the bottom of the 30 man roster, but at some point the whole fanbase should want and expect more.

I did not feel you were attacking me so don’t worry about that. I just wanted everyone to know that AW is a special young man even though he is not categorized as an elite Big Ten wrestling. He is a true team first guy as evidenced he dropped to 157 this year to let Harer redshirt. No one wants a squad of elite wrestlers more than me. Happy New Yesr to all.

Unbiased observer here…this pissing match will never resolve itself on a keyboard so let’s just stick to wrestling and Knox.

Exactly.Im officially done with this fool.I want to stick to wrestling.Fighting with some redundant zero is idiotic and down right disrespectful to myself and others on the board.

The funny thing is, is that I make a mockery of this and think its childish and dumb. This fool, probably is sitting at his computer waiting in baited breath for me to respond, with a jar of vaseline or lubriderm and a box baby wipes for clean up after he feels he got some verbal one over on me.Sad little man.
You think it's childish and dumb yet you respond with something even more childish and dumber. Instant paradox. High school level humor at it's finest.

Getting back to Knox, in the latest CutPro Ad (Knox dad’s business), Knox Sr. is wearing a Rutgers hat. Maybe that’s positive sign.
I’m guessing lining up the 7 figure payday, jumping through admin hoops, and planning formal announcement takes a little time unless this whole RU deal done thing is a negotiating tactic.

At this point we might as well go all in. I just don't think some recently graduated high school wrestler, is worth seven figures.Youve got cops, teachers and nurses making high 5 figures, killing themselves at work...and yet some punk kid that is not proven on the collegiate level should be made an instant millionaire? For what? So we can obtain some sort of NIL badge of merit...??? Even more aggravating is that he had a DWI, terrible grades and some issues with a female that I wont comment about.I think he is a major liability.I see guys like SWC, who stays the straight narrow, never made a state semifinal, has great grades, and is now a Midlands champ, ranked in the top 10, and is probably getting a very modest to less than modest scholarship.Makes me dislike Goodale even more.I dont care if others hate what I have to say.Ive been to the big dance and went way above what I was supposed to do and didnt get jack squat. An NCAA , AA plaque and couple pats on the back.Shameful.

Rutgers should spend their NIL reserves on police officers is certainly a take I wasn’t expecting today.

You also might want to check your sources on all those character claims you’re making. He’s never had a DUI, his grades were fine though I never expected he’d be an Ivy kid, and your claims about him having issues with girls is completely fabricated but that’s no surprise coming from you.

Allegedly there were other issues but no point in discussing them now because RU is not in a position to turn away a potential AA/NC.

I see where you're coming from , but all I can say is...Andrew Campolattano. Gave him the forgiveness card and look where it got us. When there is disciplinary issues , they always seem to never go away. If you're a problem , you're going to stay a problem.SCNJ (Goodys crush),says ...nothing is wrong abd his grades are good.Ok, then how come he is not wrestling at Cornell? Even with average grades (or possibly less than stellar grades) Cornell is not passing on a 4x NJ state champ.Especially with all the time and money they put into recruiting him.

It was a mix of grades and the pending assault charges that caused Cornell to say no

His grades are fine but his academics are not Ivy caliber, I had been saying that years ago when people were speculating that he’d go to Cornell or Princeton.

His only legal issues stem from the assault charges that occurred during that brawl. While ultimately he’s responsible for his own actions, that whole situation could have been easily avoided if the hosting school did their jobs properly and if Knox’s father didn’t throw gas onto the fire.

But you making up lies about DUI’s and abusing girls is sickening and pathetic.

I’ve got no skin in the game but crackers isn’t completely off-base. There were allegedly other issues that are irrelevant at this point. None of that matters you gotta give the kid a chance to come home and prove himself. If it all goes to hell it was still worth the gamble.

Agree... as I have said before I am usually super conservative and cautious about the stuff but in this case I think we need to go for it....and take the risk

First off, ahole, where did I say he abused a girl?I said he had a issue with a girl that I did want to discuss. You really are moron, a lying shat starter and certainly cant comprehend anything.Second he absolutely had issues with some sort of alochol of paraphenalia issue at Cornell.
