I dunno. The guy randomly telling "all of you that say Kylie shouldn't get her minutes are full of bullsh**t"... sounds a little bit angry..

I was just responding to some that say Kylie should have her minutes cut for others. If you listened to Jan's post game presser, you would find that that ain't happening anytime soon.

I'll jump in on that. I've never said that "kylie won't get her minutes", because Jan is going to play her big minutes, and McCabe as well even if she goes 1 for 7 from three. What I said was I think its clear what our ceiling is with Kylie and McCabe play most the minutes at the 2/3 spots, and I don't see us getting where we'd hope in the tournament.

This didn't happen. Stremlow only had 2 turnovers and 8 assists to go along with 3 steals in 35 minutes. McCabe only had 2 turnovers in 35 minutes as well. Deal turned it over pretty much every time she touched the ball. It's unfortunate, but as a coach you put Stremlow and McCabe back in and take Deal out unless winning a close game isn't a priority here.

I like Stremlow, so not being hard on her, but I'll just say that not every bad pass becomes a turnover if we happen to recover the ball. Doesn't mean it was a good or timely pass.

Jan played basically 6 players today and 3 others just to give short rests. This was because fouls were only called 3rd Q. I agree Deal didn’t look her best, agree with others that she needs minutes to get onto flow. Interesting to see Maryland and Michigan lose today, things in the big are going to be fun!

Watched quite a bit of that M vs Washington game. (You can see why Jan made a big effort to get Howell in the transfer portal last year. She a fine player and only a soph). Was shocked that Michigan game in averaging 92points/gm and they had low 30's to start the 4Q! Washington did everything they could to put the game on ice in the 4Q and it almost cost them. They stopped running their offense and Michigan came after them hard.

Agreed. When I'm evaluating guard's value in terms of efficiency outside of shooting/scoring I'm looking at assists, turnovers, and steals. I subtract steals from turnovers and then use assists to turnovers. In this case Stremlow had 3 steals and 2 turnovers for a net negative one. She had 8 assists so her net was 9-0 which is awesome. She's having a great year so far and her PER of 23.5 reflects that.

IMO if Jan was looking to provide additional minutes to Addie they would more likely come from McCabe. They actually have kind of a similar game today.

Chit Chat was awesome again. Houston with some bad shots but she just finds the ball on rebounds and loose balls. And Hannah hitting free throws like she did today was one of the main keys to this win.
Is anyone else concerned with the 30+ minutes CC gets each game. As valuable as she is I hate to see her worn down. It’s a long season.

Good info. And honestly, I'm not trying to bag on either Kylie, or McCabe, (who is a little better defender this year). I just think playing the two alot of minutes together against really good teams (like we'll see several in conference play and the tourney) will lead to more games where we get 2-6 points combined between the two, and thats a recipe for a loss against good teams if they're both playing 25+ minutes,

Is there a stat for causing a steal or turnover? Maybe start looking for that and adding it to how you "score" the game. Severely under valued player on this board. Thankfully, the coaching staff does keep that extra stat.

No worries. I tend to agree. I think it's a game by game thing based on who's playing best. For me, I think right now the most valuable players to keep on the floor are Ava, Hannah, CCW, and Stremlow. That makes Addie the second guard off the bench and given Jan's propensity for playing McCabe and Kylie 30+ minutes, and ideally Stremlow plays 25, then that just doesn't leave a lot of minutes available. Fouls and injuries factor in, but even with Kylie out against Nebraska, Addie only got 6 minutes vs Nebraska with Stremlow picking up the additional minutes. Minutes are all about trust and right now Jan has a starting 5, Houston down low, and Stremlow at the guard spots. Everyone else will be vying over scraps.

Just want to add Hannah had one heck of a game. Maybe one of her better all around games as a hawk. Good job Hannah!!
Just watched it after taping. I would argue it's the best game she's ever had at Iowa. 7 of 7 from the line, making some contested close in shots and made most of her bunnies.

Missed a couple of mid-range shots that nobody wants her to take, but was good on the boards and defensively as per normal. She looked really good, was great to see.

You forgot about the game she almost got 50?

You're kind of projecting. It's a women's basketball discussion and some of you folks might as well be discussing religion and politics the way you get your backs up.
Hate to break this too ya, but nobody died and made you King. So until that day comes GFY.

You and Andre should shack up together. You can be insufferable together. You were made for each other.
Koch having a really tough game

Iowa completely falling apart offensively. Only 7 points through nearly a quarter of basketball.

Iowa with 17 points in nearly a half o basketball

Hate to break this to ya, but you're an insufferable P.O.S. and since you've posted nothing worth reading, to the ignore box you go.

Agree. Great win but this whiny little victim oh woe is me mentality is pretty pathetic. Iowa probably got the best of the calls down the stretch.

Oh my! Those refs are so unfair. I don't know what to do!!! They've got it in for my team!!

Do you think she will make it in the WNBA?

I think given the league is supposed to be expanding (IF they get a CBA signed. Not sure a strike year will bring two new teams in) she has a shot going in the 2nd round. Shes still have the same exact issues being a forward with a post players skills. She's basically a poor mans Reese. A little better finisher at the rim but not as aggressive on the glass and neither can shoot the ball beyond the paint, and struggle from the line.

I'm not the one to ask. Sorry.

I don't watch or care much about the WNBA, or the NBA for that matter. (Love CC22 while at Iowa, and wish her well, but I'm not watching the WNBA)

What I will say is Hannah is a very good athlete, rebounds pretty well, defense is solid, etc. She's been a pretty good Hawkeye, and she'll get a chance to show if she belongs I think.

It's okay. Being anything more than a casual requires more brain power, so we understand when "sports" fans can't handle it. 🙂
