Umm. 3 wins might shake the money tree and it should. I think we’re pot committed to Rhule but 3 wins unless caused by multiple QB injuries would give the most ardent Rhule groupies the shakes.
It has nothing to do with who gets the shakes. His buyout is egregious and it's virtually impossible for Nebraska to fire him next year.

I’m the biggest promoter of the buyout makes him untouchable theory. Not sure that holds up if he only wins 3. He should be able to win 3 with a walk on RB at QB.

According to my ND buddy, he liked Minchey more than Carr. Said he's a lot more careful with the ball, has a great arm, but was slower than Carr when it came to running. Not sure this is the guy a lot of you on here want at QB. Suprised there's so much hate on Chiles, the kid is probably the most mobile QB in the portal...

I get it and I think we're in agreement. I'm more responding to the people that think he actually will be gone next year. He won't. As the guy said in "Unforgiven" - deserves got nothin' to do with it. There are lots of scenarios where he would deserve to be fired next year but financially it's next to impossible.

In this new era of NIL getting any player of need through the portal is easy if you have the cash. Those that are worried about a high school football player possibly reneging on a commitment are really worrying about very little. College football and athletics for that matter have turned into a professional free agency model where every year you sign the best to a contract to represent your school, education has little to do with it any longer.

While Trae is a very talented high school football player he is years away from being a polished collegiate QB and will take years to physically build his body to withstand the grind of a year to year schedule. Even if Trae sticks with Nebraska who says he doesn't enter the portal after a year or two. I think there are some kids who come right out of high school who are ready to play college ball but Trae is years away from that. It's a new era and as soon as people understand it the better their mental health will be. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

I don't hate Chiles but I really want a more polished passer than him. The film on Minchey is limited but he looks PLENTY athletic as a runner.

I don’t know anything about this young man. Is he a Mobile QB or a Running QB?

Guessing: Mobile

He's mobile, but definitely not a running QB. He's more of a pass first QB who can pick up some yards on the ground when flushed out of the pocket.

Not even close to the UNLV QB.

He looks fine to me, looks like he takes care of the ball and has a good arm and can run. I see no problem with Nebraska pursuing this QB to be here for spring ball and let the QB competition begin.

Now let's see Nebraska hit the portal hard for DL help and also a stud RB.

Aidan Chiles actually has a much better highlight reel. Of course that doesn't show the lowlights. But in the right environment, Chiles would be a steal and have potential as high as any qb in the portal. Problem with him is I don't think NU is that right environment.

Check out Jeff Sims' highlight reel. He looked pretty good too.

Chiles is a loser, not a gamer

Translation: We fire Rhule after a 3-9 2026 season, we lose Trae.
Pretty much but let's not kids ourselves.that was ALWAYS gonna be the case the moment he committed. Kid commit to coaches no universities for the most part. Especially those from outer state.

I drink the Kool-Aid probably as much as anyone. But asserting that a guy with 212 yards passing in 3 seasons and average per pass of 7.5 yards per completion and 0 TDs during mop-up duty is the savior is a little too speculative to me. His only substantial passing experience was coming in for the 4th Quarter of a 56-23 game against Purdue and managing to go 7-8 for no TDs and 2 of his 3 drives ending on downs. I hope there is more diamond than rough here.

I just hope they had him throw a couple of dozen deep fly and crossing throws to see if he can actually hit a receiver in stride more than once or twice, and maybe see if he can hit a few back shoulder throws down the sideline. Assuming kid is competent at reading a defense and hit those throws with some consistency, I am all in. Everything else is a plus to me, because of what that causes opposing teams to do with their safeties, which could actually make play action and RPOs effective. of course, still need major upgrade in the line for any of this to matter.
