He agreed, came back asking for more money ,Rutgers refused and Kyle became King
Rumor had it that Mario's wife didn't want to leave Florida, but I can't say if that's true.
Cristobal lost his FIU HC position after the 2012 season ended, spent the next 5 years at Alanama working under Saban , before becoming a HC again at Oregon

But board experts tell me that Schiano knows nothing and has a poor coaching tree
Schiano knows Nothing

if your trying to claim Cristobol as Schiano’s coaching tree I would think again.

Cristobol works for Schiano goes to FIU gets fired.

Cristobol goes to Saban for 5 years leaves and has success at Miami.

Saban might have something to say about this.

Geez, I don't know whether to believe you or Mario Cristobal about that.

Thanking the guy who gave you your first job is basic courtesy.

Left Greg and failed and was fired.

Found success w Saban!

This is how bad the team and Greg has become with the apologists creating a thread for thiis and others defending it

well they both the worst play calling decisions of this century so I guess there is that.

Christobal has not been seen as a great coach by any stretch except the past 3 days.

curious

Maybe Greg's "development" of Mario finally crystallized for Crisobal after all these years. Or maybe he just used what he learned from Saban. . . . .:ROFLMAO:

Christobal took over a 0-12 Panther program, slowly built it into a winner ( sound's like G1)
FIU Golden Panthers / Panthers (Sun Belt Conference) (2007–2012)
2007FIU1–111–67th
2008FIU5–73–4T–5th
2009FIU3–93–56th
2010FIU7–66–2T–1stW Little Caesars Pizza
2011FIU8–55–34thL Beef 'O' Brady's
2012FIU3–92–6T–8th
FIU:27–4720–26

theN was sought out by Rutgers and accepted the position only to ask for more money and when refused go back to the sunshine state at the job he was planing to leave , until he didn't .
Had a bad year and was dumped by FIU.
Coaches that are winners , but lose their jobs because of NCAA infractions, get another HC position ASAP
Coaches that have losing records, even if they had their program improve under them and have it regress a bit, find out getting another HC position right away is not easily done and have to work their way back to looking valuable again.

That's what Mario did and he's from the Schiano coaching tree where he started out learning the trade working in the same Butch Davis' Miami staff as GA and leaving with Schiano to work under him at Rutgers
Mario worked under Greg;s supervision for 3 years , learning his trade , before moving back to Miami and using what he learned from Schiano until FIU hired him to be their HC.
Under Sanan he refined his coaching ability for 4 years and Oregon decided he was the type of HC they wanted .

I am looking forward to the day we move on from Schiano as much as anyone else- but why are some of you trying so hard to find any way you can to bash the man. If MC got his start with Schiano, coached with him for a number of years and now that he has made himself into an elite HC and MC names both Greg and Saban in the same sentence...Then, I am going to give Greg the credit he does deserve. Another way to twist it up a little is that MC was able to find success under Saban because of what he learned working for Greg.

MC is 100% in Greg's coaching tree. There is no way to even dispute the fact, like it or not.

It's more than one.
Very small handful. Just one who will not even admit that Schiano has a very good coaching tree. Then he turns it around and calls them Schianoites. Classic case of Schiano Derangement Syndrome when one can't admit that the guy has some positive attributes and has done some very good things as a head coach. Quite hilarious behavior considering the prime poster who won't shut up about how terrible he thinks Schiano is.

KS- it is funny how both you and I are ready for Greg to move on- and yet, we find we have to actually defend him from stupid people. lol

First- anyone that has been coaching for 30 years and 20+ years as a head coach- is going to usually have a fairly decent tree. And in Greg's tenure of being a HC- he did have the opportunity to hire in young, in experienced guys where he was their first shot at coaching. Even look at some of these types- Look at D Rizzi - here as ST's coach for a few years and not long ago- Interim HC of the Saints- Chris Hewitt who has been around the NFL now for years. Even Flood, MC does fit in there, as do so many others.
Heck- even the younger Belechick falls under Gregs tree.
