Supposedly VT couldn’t come up with the cash as they already went on shopping spree with BB, MM, Fortier, Konopka, and others.
Yeah, he definitely is loosing credibility with the Rutgers crowd. If it comes from Mineos mouth, then I will believe it.
I hate that it's come down to this supposed bidding war but desperate times call for desperate measures. We need an infusion of high level talent to up our game here. This play might be a real good score if some of the above posts come to fruition. Rutgers will need to up their game though (open the coffers) much more than Knox to make this really work.

I heard it’s a done deal…as others mentioned apparently both UNC and RU offered 7 figures with UNC offering a bit more. Unless Knox to RU is being leaked as a negotiating tactic to push UNC to offer more, but that seems like a stretch. RU threw a lot of money at Knox and seems to be bending over backwards.
Bending over backwards does not fit Rutgers profile for wrestling. I wonder what is going on behind the scenes, who is involved, where the money is coming from, and how/if money is getting shifted around by Zinn. Maybe this SEC gal is getting behind the wrestling program.
Yeah IDK but RU is definitely willing to pay up and sounds like they are showing the family some love. We aren’t Iowa and can’t afford to chase away a parent and lose a top recruit in the process.
Why chase away a parent when all he did apparently was turn help turn Knox’s hs into a top team.. he might be a bonus if anything if more recruits come.

Zinn has provided more NIL funding to wrestling. She's a fundraising machine and we finally have an AD doing their job. I was skeptical of the hire but with no connections in the area (yet) she's getting it done. Besides showing up to some matches, Hobbs provided $0.
I agree that while the Knox family has their issues, the Ferrari family other than the youngest brother are way more problematic.
As far as wrestling goes, Knox shows up, gets his work in, and leaves. He’s not about the taunting and showmanship that Ferrari brings. I also think his legal battle really humbled him.
For decades I have always felt that we needed to do things the right way. Whatever that means.
I am now in the camp that if it means we need to take some risks that may blow up in our face I am all for it.
I hope that we do whatever we need to do to get Knox to come here.
I hope he finalizes decision quickly.

Nick Lee also beat Yianni at Oly trials, Final X and in the Pan Am challenge (that was wholely unnecessary) in between. Yianni has a multifaceted PSU problem.
Zinn has been very helpful and supportive of wrestling.

I will say that trying to fund football is a lost cause we cannot compete with the South and Midwest obsession whereas with proper funding we can fill a wrestling line up that can easily land somewhere between 5-10 in rankings every year. Keep kids like the Kennys, Duffy, Amato, etc. here. NJ has the wrestling talent pool - can’t say the same for football or many sports other than perhaps lax.
Football generates revenue and allows other sports to exist.

More like a ka-boom. Hope so, but I'm still embarrassed by thinking Bassett might come. In the end, we weren't in his top four.
I’m not saying shutdown the football program but we don’t and won’t spend the money required to make the CFP so just keep status quo and fund sports where we can actually succeed. UNC took money from their football program and gave it to lax and the result is the top 2027 lax recruiting class in the country. I personally think that’s the right strategy. Build top 10 programs in men’s/women’s lax, wrestling, soccer and just keep the football team competitive. I’d say basketball too but it’s a lost cause = even if you outspend the competition the top kids are one and done so every year you are rebuilding.
