I love how you discredited my take because you feel it’s based on opinion, and then proceeded to list opinions to back your take.

It’s also my “opinion” that Knox beat Bassett.
Yep and that was some time ago. Basset also lost to Zapeda does that make Zapeda the better prospect? How you predict Knox to score more points at nationals (better prospect) is puzzling to me when he hasn’t even proven he can beat Bouzakis and the other top 125er. And Basset has proven he can dominate the top 149 pounders this is just facts buddy. but hey it’s your opinion Knox will have the better Career.. based on hey we might land him. I’m on your side on this one if we land Knox I hope he’s a 4xer but logically to think he’s better prospect then Basset makes no sense, other then biased and emotions, based on this years results.

Debating Bassett vs Knox seems rather moot. Having a chance of getting Knox sounds much like several others over the years. You know, those guys where Rutgers was their second choice. It's more likely Rutgers will be his second choice for the second time. If he does come, it will be because of a strong desire to stay local, not much else. Will Rutgers be the high bidder? Better coaching? Great training partners? I do hope he comes and AAs multiple years. Multi-time champ is possible, but not here.

FYI
Suriano would have been a multiple time champ if he came back to RU his final year

Whether it’s a good idea or not, Rutgers will offer Knox father a lot more involvement with the program than any other school. That’s big for him. Not sure if outweighs the payday he can receive elsewhere. This is very similar to the Suriano situation, but that was pre-NIL

Do we want his father involved?

His father is well connected and Knox is the kind of kid that will also bring elite partners. SJV was a mediocre program that became a top 5 team in the state once Knox got there, and they’re a below average team now that he left.

Knox would completely turn Rutgers around, but I would imagine there will be polarizing takes.

Oh I would def be interested in Knox. Just not sure what value his father brings other than having offspring with tremendous talent.

so far I’ve heard he’s connected. I’m just not sure what that means specifically.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, genuinely curious as to the value add of the dad. Or is it just a pill you have to swallow to get the son

He runs a wrestling club in Marlboro and knows pretty much every wrestling family in the area. There’s some baggage with his dad for sure but he assembled the entire Vianney roster over the last few years. They chose Vianney over places like CBA because the dad would have more of a direct line with the coaching staff. I think Vianney went overboard and essentially let the dad run practice and the program which would never happen at the college level, but I think there’s some appeal to the Rutgers coaching staff maintaining two way communication that other programs won’t offer. Being a 25 minute drive away from home doesn’t hurt either.

At some point it’s worth the gamble. His Dad is well connected and has an impressive client base for Cut-Pro. Plenty of studs walk in the door of his club if nothing else than to train with Anthony so that could open up opportunities.

BTW, rumors I’m hearing point to RU somehow we came up with the bag of cash. But let’s see what happens.

They should bring his father on staff.Let him keep his Cut Pro and wrestling club, but get him a solid position. It would a pipeline for other great wrestlers.

Mineo is claiming that it’s down to Rutgers and UNC and that UNC put forth the biggest offer but Rutgers offer is very close. Hopefully staying in NJ and letting his dad hang around will make up for the small $$ differenc. Plus I don’t see the Knox family meshing well with Coach Rob “it’s all about me“ Koll

100 percent , I think people are overlooking the fact that if Knox comes here him and his pops are going to recruit others and that could open the floodgates to Rutgers getting back in the mix for the top NJ kids.

This is exactly what I heard. Both offers are seven figures and very close but UNC slightly higher than RU. But it’s not a big difference and I suspect staying local with family in the picture dictates the final decision.

I hope for the programs sake we can land Knox. Hiring his dad to be on staff in some capacity seems like a wild take.

If we get him, partial thanks goes to Keli Zinn, she provided extra funding for NIL.

Why, if Goody is ok with it then why not? He’s going to be recruiting and may be able to help raise some more NIL funds. When yo don’t have the staff or NIL to recruit with the big dogs you have to think outside the box and get creative.

If he’s hired to be on staff, does that make him a Rutgers employee?

Are you asking that for scholarship/free tuition purposes? Pretty sure Goodale’s son was a walk on for football for this reason.

I’m asking because in addition to the current assault chargers, there is a list of priors on Knox sr. Record. I’m pretty sure there are background checks involved for university employees and I’m not sure how the university would feel about employing someone with zero credentials and a resume consisting of “is well connected”

If he’s hired I would imagine it would be for the SKWC and not the universit, Sasso has pending gun and weed charges and they just brought him in with no issues so seems to be a way to get around it

I couldn't agree with you more. Rob Cole is a couple years younger than me , but he was known as a snide, egotistical, notorious douchenozzle! That lisp and smug condescending face is so punchable.

I’ll never forget when Zain beat Yianni 2 matches to none at final X and Yianni and Cornell decided to sue to get a rematch and Koll is peacocking around and bragging doing flo interviews talking about how cornell has the best lawyers and how he ll let them handle the situation, so Yianni gets a fully funded Cornell defense ( even tho his family was already rich) and Zain the son of farmers who run a vegetable stand had to cancel his wedding, hire his own lawyer then lost the hearing and had to wrestle yianni in a 3rd match like a week before worlds (completely screwing up the training schedule) and still beat him again and instead of giving Zain his due Koll just says yianni will beat him next year..

Kania is connected but loves Rutgers so most of that is tongue in cheek. He said the same stuff about Bassett, it’s his humor.

He admitted it’s fake in the comment section.

Agreed on this front. I don’t think Knox Sr would ever be hired to be on the official RU staf

I saw that in the comments and wasn’t sure if he was joking or what, but he does work with Flo and has a ton of followers so it would be a bad look if he’s d!cking around.
