The pessimism here is way overdone

I think people are severely underestimating how bad the offense could be.

With 2 of the top scorers in the country, the team was only 44th last year and approx 11th in the Big Ten.

Forget 2023-2024.

Look at 2022-2023.
That team had Clif and Spencer - still ranked just 151.
Even with a top 10 defense they were a bubble/last team out.

Is this offense going to be better than Clif (14ppg), Spencer (14ppg), Hyatt, Mag, Caleb, Mulcahy, freshman Simpson?

So turns out the offense was in fact just as bad I said it could be.

If I'm reading this right, we are #230 on offense.
Much lower than the hoped for #100 and significantly worse than last year (#44).

And the defense ("back to a gritty, unselfish Pike type team) is #159 on defense.
Instead of a "baseline" Pike defense, it's actually worse than even last year (#114).

And this is through the "easy" part of the schedule.
