That program is in shambles right now. Doesn’t look like too many players are impressed with the new coach. I don’t expect Iowa State to be relevant in football for at least the next 3-4 years. And with the money problems Iowa State is having, coupled with the fact the Big 12 is falling further from the B1G and SEC in relevancy, I don’t know if Iowa State football will ever recover.

Doesn’t sound like new Coach Jimmy is making the strongest impression with the proven players.

It will be interesting to see what creative crap you will post when Kirk retires and half the roster abandons your ship.

Never thought the defections would reach this level.

The current team definitely isn't buying what the new coach is selling.

Looking at the WSU schedule last season, pretty weak...and only 6 wins???

Kirk is too classy (& too old) to bail for bigger $$ & raid our team of all decent players. He’ll either line up a coach-in-waiting or our high-class AD will pull in a great hire that wants a P2 upgrade.

I guarantee that whenever we get a new coach, it won’t be a complete train wreck like at MooU.

I can see ISU fans trying to claim Penn state as their team too.

Matt Campbell doesn’t love them & never did.

Let’s not act like a coach retiring and setting up the program for the future is the same as one jumping ship for a way better program. While at the same time taking the best current players and recruits with him while leaving a raging dumpster fire in his wake. Face it, you got schlonged in an epic fashion. Trust the process

Every team that has a head coaching change will experience some type of roster turnover, with many players following their departing head coach. It'll be interesting to see how many players from WSU follow Jimmy F'n Hawks to Ames.

The fact that the Clones couldn't keep enough of a roster together to make it to a bowl game is telling though. Pollard is going to learn the hard way that the identity of Iowa State football, perhaps more than any other program, was tied to the head coach and not the school or program itself.

Hearing about the challenges Campbell had on accessing NIL funds at ISU, having to go through Pollard for everything, tells me that J.P. saw himself a the "big fish" over there, like Alvarez at Wisc. They should have paid Campbell more years ago and accommodated him better.

That whole ISU athletic department may collapse soon, due to debt and the coming decline of the football program, and Pollard will be called upon to answer for it.

They have never been relevant.. my god.

Coming into this season, they had what I’d call “mild” relevancy. Had been in some nice bowl games recently and played in the Big 12 title game last year. Starting out 5-0 this season, I thought they would for sure play in another conference title game and maybe even make the CFP. With Campbell, who knows what they would’ve become over the next few years. Their fans would’ve been insufferable.

Instead, order has been restored. Texas Tech, BYU, Utah and Arizona State seem to be taking over that conference in football. And don’t sleep on TCU, Baylor or even Oklahoma State bouncing back soon with all the money they have. Iowa State stepped back 10-15 years by losing Campbell, and I don’t see them competing in an already watered down Big 12 for years to come.
