It's funny because it's exactly the vibe I got from reading that and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Maybe the problem is these high school kids don't want to get into a long term relationship with JMI without at least dating first.
Thanks to that video (The Catican) you shared that day, I still kind of expect it to be a short term problem, but eventually be great. I can be patient since I expect a lot of returnees anyway. We should be filling a few spots in the portal rather than building wholesale

Just as I thought....JMI releases information fans have been begging for. But the mob dismisses it. They are already labeled the bad guy here because KSR says so and nothing will change that. Folks will just continue to pick apart every word or phrase and warp into whatever they want. Its how conspiracy theories work. Nothing is Pope's fault, everything is JMI's fault....the tribe has spoken.
You are to JMI what Willis Reed was for the Knicks in the 1970 NBA finals - a fully devoted loyalist through and through, almost to the point where you look like a JMI shill.

I'm going to start calling you Shillis Reed.

What is the conspiracy? Explain it to me Peter. What did this statement say that proves exactly what they do and why there are no issues in what they do? Which players have JMI signed since this deal has went into effect and what have they done for those players? What does this holistic deal provide for the top players, why are they hesitating to sign when the actually read the contract if it is so great?
This. If JMI was so great, we'd have Stokes and Collins already committed. We were inches from landing both and ended up with neither.

it's not brain surgery.

If JMI wants to enhance their public image, get some of these deals closed and sign some talent. What is so hard to understand about that? These public statements just make things worse. Why are they wasting their energy on this?

Because they never had to actually compete in the marketplace. They always just played politics and glad handed to get a sweetheart deal like this where they get in the middle and make money for nothing.

This requires actual business savvy and closers that can out play and out hunt a bunch of other wolves. Instead, jmi thinks it will he business as usual and eventually the leverage will flip. Until then, we're screwed.

Mitch’s little radio spot on “UK at the half” just now was equally worthless. Talked about how “relationships are important” and some rubbish about making sure UK Athletics produces “valuable community members”. Literally used the phrase “winning is important, BUT…”

You can’t make this **** up. He is absolutely destroying UK basketball with his delusional moral compass.
I think we are gonna find out real quick if this is a Pope issue or a JMI issue because the new football coach has put together an amazing staff full of winners and recruiters. If they suddenly start falling flat or complaining their hands are tied we will know what it is. If they are getting high level recruits it’ll lead me to believe there is something off on the basketball side.

Barney has abused his power. We need to stand up bbn. You see this guy in public let him know how you feel.seriously. This clown has done more to hurt UK basketball than any other individual ever. 3 tournament misses a 9 win season. Who allows a guy to squat in a job for 25 years. The guy can’t sell the program. Actually he down talks it. “No one wanted the job”. The guy is a pr nightmare and now he’s in an unhealthy way trying to solidify the future of Uk athletics in his image. We need a tough need Kentuckian to come in and clean out the stench. Barney has been far worse than any coach. He hires the wrong guy or give the right guy a demotivating contract.

But here's the thing, in basketball we're talking about being able to meet the demands of one or more of the top earning 5 star recruits. The ones we aren't landing. In football we're talking about mostly 4 stars and lower. No problem with those per Mitch and JMI. If we're competing for a top, 5 star, football player then hallelujah but might end up screwed like in basketball.

You may be right. However, there may be some 4 stars that see the contract and say hell no if it is indeed the contract. At that point, if that’s the case, I can see a new coach saying you gotta fix this or I’m not gonna be able to do my job. Either way I think it’ll leak if it is remotely true. And I do think the new football staff will take recruiting to the next level. I’m very happy with the staff assembled, so time will tell.

IF it is the contract I gotta think Mitch will try to fix it somehow. I can’t see him destroying his “legacy” right before he leaves over something like that but maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know the guy.

Football is way different. In basketball, with only five players on the floor, one elite guy can literally change everything. Two can almost guarantee a final four type run.

In football, a qb is basically the only thing that equates and even they are still dependent on everyone around them.

I do agree with your overall sentiment that i think we'll see less issues with football but that is only partly due to coaching differences.

Agree with all that except for the last part about Mitch changing. He's dug in on the JMI deal like an Alabama tick.

JQ was signed before the JMI deal. Learn the facts before you make yourself look more stupid.

Connie, Connie, Connie you’re simply playing games and you’re not fooling anyhere. If coach played JQ 30 minutes today you would be spinning it that he’s risking a top five draft picks stock by over using him when he wasn’t needed. Stop your trolling

Oh, another thread for fans to complain about something they don’t really know much about. KSR has spiked this conversation but also always demonstrates they are truly clueless. It’s easy to stir in a bit of dissent for clickbait and then if you are later determined wrong, just act as if it was the “lack of transparency” that had you confused. This is a new environment and whether JMI was the right partnership or not won’t be known immediately. Some fans run with ignorance while others tend to ***** and moan whenever possible.

Stokes and Collins? Neither seems to be an issue with JMI. Mark Pope’s pursuit of Stokes is a strange one, IMO. Watching the kid play, I don’t see where he is a good match for Pope or Pope for him.

Pope needs a GM who understands Mark and can evaluate, IMO.

JMI is not our recruiting problem. Players like Stokes are not going to play for a system coach. Pope is wasting time and resources going after guys that won’t play in a system. Blaming JMI just gives them an out. If JMI wasn’t there they would use something else.

Pope has to decide. If he’s sticking with his system then recruit to the system. If he’s ditching the system then ditch the system and go after the top recruits in high school and the portal.

So you know for a fact that JMI is not the problem? Come on man. You're just speculating like the rest of us. You just happen to be on the others side of the fence.

A GM actually won’t help with the JMI issues because the issue is with contacts with the players. A GM is something either the school or coaching staff hires but the issue we have occurs after the recruits have moved into JMI negotiations. I know KSR was reporting the need for a GM on this, but it seems they are wrong here. An attorney went over the JMI stuff on this podcast and, while it gets a tad bit technical, I’ll say I walked away from it feeling pretty well informed:

No one here has a bigger corn cob up their backside than you Runnie. There have been misses. You inside info that JMI is the cause is suspect at best.

I happen to be on neither side of any fence. If you don’t know, you don’t know. The constant pissy sniping that happens on this board is pathetic. Chicken Littles gripe and complain and then just lay silent when proven wrong. So, yeah, if the jury is still out, I am not a little *****.

I haven’t watched the video yet but IMO the biggest role the GM will play is in crafting the big picture of the organization and the “soft power” of agent relationships, understanding the overall portal and NIL markets, etc.

But (again without seeing the video) I can’t imagine that a GM wouldn’t be able to have a hand in sealing the deal with a recruit. And there is no reason Pope should ever be involved with working out the details of a contract. He’s got enough to worry about.

Yeah, gotta watch the video. I was all about a GM until I watched it. The issue is — a GM is the liaison from the UK side of things. However, because of the structure, there is another layer to the cake afterwards which is the JMI negotiations. That’s where the issues are. Good news is they will only get better at negotiating with time and they have big incentives to improve. Short term loss, Long term plus.

So explain why UK is unsuccessful in getting any of their top targets to date and it is a well known fact the NIL agreement has been the sticking point. Having an iron clad NIL package in place along with the prestige that the KY basketball program represents one would think we could sign just about anyone we want yet we have exactly zero commitments in place and have (for the moment at least) lost our top two prospects who were heavy UK leans. So let’s hear the why????
What about the NIL agreement was the sticking point? Can you back up your claims and tell us what the issue is with the NIL agreement actually is? Why is your group always so vague when making these allegations?

I believe this post was in reference to reports from KSR’s Jack Pilgrim and the complexities within JMI’s NIL package that was making recruiting more difficult. These reports raised legitimate concerns which seemed plausible due to the number of recruits we were missing out on. Here it appears I am asking a question to someone on another possible reason why? I’m not an insider, don’t pretend to be. I can only go off reports I hear and and read. I read several on JMI but JMI is hardly a drum I’ve beat over and over. Watching Stein recruit well leads me to believe recruiting issues are a pope problem not a JMI issue.

Always a vague accusation with nothing concrete to back it up when the UK hating frauds are trying to take shots at UK.

“The complexities” and “the NIL agreement has been a sticking point“. Can any of you speak plain English? You literally make up BS phrases that you can’t explain to disparage the program.

What are the complexities you’re talking about? Your group can never back up a word you say. There’s always a vague accusation with zero substance for you to use to tear down UK, this is just another example.

The conflict of interest is almost bad as the complexities, the restrictions, the NIL agreement that’s the sticking point, and the rest of the stuff that’s causing the problems. Interests should no longer be allowed to be conflicted.

Never stop laughing at the joke that they are.

Hey stupid!!! Read my post again. There was nothing vague about my response. I clearly indicated it was what I had read from KSR’s Jack pilgrim and what he was hearing. Go straight to the source jackass if you want to question him. I also clearly stated I don’t think JMI is the issue now rather pope. POPE can’t recruit (comprende?)

Sorry not brainwashed. You pulled up a post I made shortly after the article came out. I was also asking a question if that wasn’t the case then what was the answer, surely it couldn’t have been pope was just that bad of a recruiter. Turns out that indeed has been the case. I don’t have UK connections to know all the inner workings and if an article is put out suggesting issues with our NIL then until that is proven otherwise who am I to say that article is false. Some things you know right off the bat aren’t true, like 81 million legitimate votes for Biden. Others you don’t know for certain like the JMI speculation. And some things can be confirmed within a short period of time, like you being a complete ******* for example. You think your something but your not. Just another poster on a message board. Now buzz off you POS!!!
