Yeah you got me to re-watch the last 10 mins again. Must have confused it with another. But "ANOTHER TASK" would be a great name for sequel :)
It was actually renewed for a second season with Ruffalo returning. You might get that title for S2! I'm assuming it'll be a brand new task force having not much to do with S1.

Another season? They closed every single storyline. It's one season only like Mare of Easttown. Same creator.

Lead from Task Tom Pelphrey is a Rutgers grad.
Tom Pelphrey (born in Howell, 2004 RU grad) was incredible in Task. I knew I had seen him in something else, and then it dawned on me — he played Wendy’s bipolar brother Ben in Ozark, and he was amazing in that small role as well.

speaking of leads that are like watching paint dry...surprised nobody has mentioned Task with Mark Ruffalo. HBO. 9 episodes I think and built up nicely from slow start. Set up for anther season I'm sure.
Just finished this last night, excellent recommendation. Can easily see how they move onto a new case next season with enough story lines to keep it running. Thankfully I’ll be back in NJ next week so seeing all of the Wawa coffee cups in this didn’t leave me without an upcoming fix

The Last Frontier was good and kept me entertained. I like Jason Clarke he does a lot of good stuff. Only drags when they do flash backs and one episode was almost an entire flash back. Flash backs are fine to develop characters but not an entire episode. Other than that, it hooked me and glad I kept watching.

Only 4 episodes but Death by Lighting was a fun little series. It's about the assassination of President Garfield.

Fun, but different than what I expected/hoped (which was something more serious and historic). This was a typical Netflix period piece drama. A bit over the top, full of caricatures and modern dialogue, but entertaining.....which was the point.

I enjoyed the series but they stretched out the last few episodes way too much. Could have been an episode or two shorter.

I think I’ve mentioned this earlier in the thread but I don’t like anything Michael Shannon is in.

I don’t even want to look at him.

Agreed, weird choice for Garfield.
Overall, well-known actors in period pieces just don't work. I see them, not the characters they are playing. Perhaps the only exception is Daniel Day Lewis (but he's one of a kind).

Haha fair but still think he was great in Boardwalk Empire.

As for the show I totally agree some of the character depictions were over the top but I think they went in that direction since that story is so little known they had to juice it up for a more broad audience. The actual events were mostly historically accurate. Still fun 4 eps.

Yes, I highly recommend the first 3, all as good or better than the other 4, imo.

PS: Broadchurch is British/Scottish with heavy accents, so subtitles are suggested.

I have no problem and actually enjoy subtitiles... Italian Cinema Mini lol. What I can't stand or deal with is soundtracks off sequence. delayed voice to lip movement. That's a deal breaker for me.

Question- since it was canceled- did season 2 end cleanly for a series or did it have a cliffhanger that we miss on?
It's not a cliffhanger type show, so not really. It's incredibly well written and unique. I'll give you couple of things to consider. One (completely inadequate) description would be that it is about a CIA agent on assignment in Europe who also likes to play guitar and sing and is so depressed that he gives away details of his missions while singing at local coffeehouses. Another tease could be that you will likely laugh out loud twice and the same guy being run over by the same bus for the same reason. Yes, it does involve the CIA, and undercover work, and a foreign plot involving an atomic bomb. But you may forget all of that just because of the story, the writing, the humor and the uniqueness of the whole show. More broadly, looking back on it, it's about a highly effective undercover CIA agent who is massively depressed and ultimately gets through it by leaning on the unusual and interesting people/friends he surrounds himself with as he goes through his life and his incredibly dangerous mission. Anyone I've recommended this show to has loved it.

For me, some of the subtle humor really makes it unique, for example the way he takes instruction from his father who advises him to do the most outrageous things. You sit there and think, wtf, no way.

Anyone remember the series “The Following”? It became available on Netflix today. Just rewatched the first episode, the first season was really good, fell off some after that. But season 1 is definitely worth a watch.

Was a good series and you are correct about it tailing off slightly after season 1

This was possibly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I agree that Season 1 was pretty good, but the falloff was Heroes level and more. To each his own!

Just finished Pluribus. I was intrigued by the story, but underwhelmed by the execution. Just too slow.

Watching All Her Fault on Peacock with my wife (her suggestion). Pretty entertaining, but would have been better as a movie. Too much focus on side plots, but I haven't finished, so maybe they all come together. Sarah Snook of Succession fame is a great actor.

Binged all 7 seasons of The Shield, which has been on my list for years and finally got around to it. Really a precursor to the antihero trend of recent golden era TV. The first season is a bit rough because some of the acting is really weak, but it kicks into gear in S2 and takes off from there. I loved it. Having said that, the final episode, which is always cited as one of the greatest finales in TV history, didn't reach that level for me.

Debating between Fallout and Slow Horses as my next binge.

I think their depiction of Chester Arthur was borderline libelous.

Watched the first 5 episodes of Fallout. Can't decide if I like it or not.
I liked it, it's fun with no social preaching which is becoming a rarity unless you watch a Taylor Sherridan show.
I just finished the second season. It's very entertaining, but there are so many storylines to follow, and I was getting whiplash from all the quick cuts. It's TV for the Tiktok age.
Yes, definitely too many storylines they need to keep it to three max.
