I always liked Cooley. Lost a lot of respect for him after the Providence situation. Seemed like a good guy for a long time at Providence and I could be wrong but I think that good guy is still in there. Dumb really dumb thing for him to do and that can't help him be an example and tell his kids to not do dumb stuff too on or off the court. The time is now for him to clean it all up and get his stuff together. Hoping for his sake he does.

Never heard story about PC scandal. Imagine it would have leaked esp. in northeast and BE land. Have followed him since his days at Fairfiled, and only heard good things. Thought he often got ahead of himself in TV interviews at PC. Connection to GT goes back a long time (.... 20 years) and a relationship with the Thompsons. Thowing the water bottle is inexcusable. (Didn't Kevin get suspended one game for allowing a kid who wouldn't be on the roster until Jan. to ride on the team bus to a Dec. game at GW?)
Wonder how close last year Shaheen came to throwing a water bottle? Maybe courtside folks were instructed to keep them out of reach.

Leaked? It‘s all very well known in Providence.

It was hidden for a while by those in the know, but it all began to blow up publicly right around the day SHU went up there and blew them out.

Don’t forget how he almost fought a fan at Xavier as a game there ended, or even his incident at the game in Newark. He puts on a good act.

BTW, I conversely had a chance to deal behind the scenes with John Thompson. He was a lot nicer behind the scenes than his on-court persona.

I guess we often know a lot less about these guys than we can possibly know from watching them on TV and reading about them.

How do the chances of a snowstorm in Miami Beach tomorrow compare to the chances Georgetown would ever hire a white coach? Just curious if they have a rule against it in their bylaws or something.

1988? Thanks for validating my question. The last time it snowed in Miami was 1977 so sounds like I'm right on.

Really? It doesn't feel that way.
2004 was his last season as the head coach of Georgetown. They've had a total of 3 coaches since then....JT3 (the greatest coach in program history's son, who had good credentials prior to being hired), Patrick Ewing (the greatest player in program history with a good history of coaching experience), and Cooley. I think you may want to sit this one out, champ.

Really? Because it sure looks that way.

You were immediately presented information about a white coach replacing the head coach who was probably the reason you asked the question in the first place — his own assistant, by the way.

But it’s good that you gave voice to the plight of white people, who just can’t see to catch a break in this country, though…

Nothing good can come from what I'd like to say and it's not the place. Letting it go.
