What are our chances? Seems like we're going to be small in the back court next year if we get him and Smith. Rippey listed at 6'1 and Smith listed at 6'2.

Would certainly be a shift in Jon’s philosophy of having big teams. I’d take both with open arms but for sure in the smaller side for a backcourt.

Exact thing I was thinking. Last couple years it seems everyone we've been going after or got is minimum 6'5.

Don’t know anything but feel like this will be ncsu especially with Cayden likely to come back. But would love to have two talented PGs

Cayden is a combo guard . I think for Scheyer it’s about finding a true pg with grit . What’s to say Cayden comes back after this season?

Cayden for sure needs to come back and I think he would be a really good sophomore but Jon recruiting the backcourt like he’s not. Rippey is a true point and ranked 12 in the class and Smith Jr is super good and ranked 2. Smith Jr is a combo as well, but figure he will play the two guard spot, albeit a bit on the shorter side at 6’2 for a SG.

I hope Cayden comes back but Jon is leading for both like he’s not. You know damn well neither kid is coming in to not start…

i def want the dazzling ball on a string breakdown off the dribble pg...last i recall was kyrie then duvall (even though i feel he was stymied by 2 bigs in the paint)...i would add the jones boys

*Reading other places, it seems as if the tides have swung to Duke in regards to Rippey....we will see...fingers crossed

Does that mean no senior year for Foster? Not sure he's NBA material at this point. A senior Foster vs. a 5 star PG would be interesting, but it usually doesn't pan out that way for us. Cayden does not seem like he would be drafted if he came out this year, but you never know. Be nice to keep one of Foster/Cayden.

I wonder if it would play out similar to Jeremy with Foster graduating and then playing somewhere else for a bigger NIL deal?

I can see this happening and I could also see Cayden staying and fighting for the starting spot . I do think one leaves after this season .

Sounds like Duke is now clear front runner for Rippey. Looks to be a true PG which will be nice. 6’1 isn’t bad size but Jon seems to like bigger guards. At the end of the day, you never say no to the #12 ranked prospect.

Rippey is a true PG. The most true PG we will have had since Tre Jones. And then Jordan Smith is the true prize, he’s gonna be a superstar. Only worry for me is both are small, like under 6’3 small and Jon loves big guards.

if we win the title this year, everyone can leave for all I care. But idk what happens with Foster/Little Booz, let’s enjoy the ride for now. This is the new college ball.

my thoughts would be maybe CFOS grads this year and goes off and gets a year somewhere or he finishes what he started and accepts whatever role he is given next year...to me CFOS is about as Duke as they come...i would love a senior CFOS

If we get Rippey, we have to get at least one of Cayden or Caleb back. Problem is which one is willing to come off the bench? Wasn't Jai Lucas the main recruiter of the Boozer's? I remember there were rumors of the Boozer's thinking of going to Miami when they hired Jai. Just saying it wouldn't surprise me if Cayden decided to go to Miami next year if he's not almost guaranteed a starting spot with us.

Rippey sounds like he’s coming and I do hope they get Jordan Smith. This will be Fosters last year and I’d rather have a sophomore Cayden over a senior Foster.

this year is reinforcing the fact Duke needs to retool at guard and Rippey will be a damn good start. I do wonder the plan at center though for next years roster…

I saw on Twitter the other day we might be looking at some 7'3" European dude. I don't know where or not he's any good. I can't find his name at the moment. Will post if I do

They got a commit from the 7’1 center from Canada. He’s a four star so he might be a project more than anything but 7’1 is massive.

Maybe the goal is to go guard heavy next year with Rippey, Jordan Smith Jr, and Cayden. Howard more than likely is the starting SF then get Nik and Wilkins will rotate at PF since both are 6’8. Have to think Cam Williams will end up as their center being 6’11.

If they end up with Rippey and Jordan Smith, that’s an all time great class but they will be super young. Who knows, we still have this year and a good team this year but always fun to think ahead on a Sunday after a loss lol.

On the foreign player topic...Arizona has 8, and several other top programs have 4-9....seems to be a trend. I'm not sure if a change in rules has led to this, or perhaps they are "cheaper" than US players... or more fundamentally sound. Whatever the reason, it has certainly changed the roster dynamics. On the PG issue...I would prefer we chase the top PG in the portal, who has experience on their side and a couple of years in the weight room...vs going for a 5* undeveloped HS kid with potential but that isn't our preference apparently.

Foster is a junior. Do you think he will do what Roach did? I like experience but if Jon was sold on Foster/Boozer next year he would not be recruiting 2 five star pgs.
My thoughts as well. Rippey is a true PG and Jordan Smith is a CG, but really more of a SG. Have to think when you are pushing for the #2 and #12 overall kids at both spots, you don’t think anyone is coming back. Both are obviously really good and Smith Jr is special but both are 6’2 which is decent size, but not great. I’d still take both.

Miami may throw a bunch of $ at Boozer. His brother will be gone as well. My wish list would be little Boozer, Pat, Harris and Nick back next year.

Found the name of the European big man that we are possibly looking at for next year.. Luigi Suigo

Who said he is going to come off the bench shey? Your doom casting taints a lot of good sometimes
How ? You really think if Duke lands Rippey and Smith, Cayden starts over them ?how does it taint if not the truth? So Duke will literally start three guards?

Foster could start over one of them, especially if one disappoints. Foster did beat out Boozer, although these 2 are higher rated. If we land both no way Foster and Boozer are both around next year. My ideal would be to land one and keep both Foster and Boozer; but us recruiting both hard does not suggest that.

If Cayden builds off his Texas tech game he might be taking Fosters spot and allowing him to stay off ball.
