Cause I dont believe Campbell brings in Rocco otherwise. Other than knowing the offense, he isn't a giant upgrade. I dont think he would trade 1 year of Rocco for 3 with Grunk.

You need Becht for depth? Without Becht PSU has 5 QB on scholarship next season . You've got depth, you are bringing in a starter. IF Campbell thinks he's better. Bring him in.
Lots of places for Grunk to start. I agree that Becht doesn't look like a big upgrade (and maybe not an upgrade at all). Given the time Grunk has left, why even consider this? Losing Grunk would be stupid.
Does Becht make us a national or Big 10 title contender next year? Then why run off a kid with 2 more years of eligibility? 2026 screams rebuilding year. Let Grunk get a year of development in the new system and then come back in ‘27 with higher goals.
All of these Grunk fans in here. Those of us who value winning want Becht. Let's say Grunk DOES enter the portal: Who do you think gets a higher grade? I mean among actual people who do this without bias.
I've also thought that QBR rating is a good measure of how well a QB played. IMO, a bad game is under 40. Allar was under 40 in three games for his entire career. The lowest rating Grunk had was a 51 in his first start at Iowa.
Becht was under 40 in 4 of his last 6 games. Maybe he was hurt and it really impacted his play, but the only thing he brings is that he is a better running than Grunk, but when it comes to acutal arm talent. They aren't all that close. He's just not very accurate. JMO, Becht is Pribula.

You seem to think that Brecht is a demonstrably better QB. I'm unconvinced, and your opinion is your opinion, not anything more. Every fan values winning, opinions vary as to how to do that.
Given equal players, I'll take three years of eligibility over one.
5 QBs and between them 5 starts and very little experience. Maybe Grunk turns into a great QB or there’s another gem in there somewhere but it would be stupid not to bring in a guy who has about 40 starts and is at worst a solid starter.

If it happens. I think you might be surprised how high Grunk rates. You talk about the blue and white glasses, but what I seemed to find is that most wearing the blue and white glasses actually view PSU players more harshly than they do players from other teams.
The highest QBR rating for a QB playing against OSU this year was Fernando Mendoza. Care to guess who had the second highest rating all year. Those ratings are made by people who do not have bias.
I think you are missing that this is the modern world of College football where all players are free agents every season. Its almost given that if Grunk leaves (regardless of Becht), he'll get more NIL, because someone will be trying to entice him to leave.
The kid has been very productive at ISU.

Becht in a RichRod offense makes a lot of sense, but he'll get the crap beaten out of him.
Allegedly Indiana and Florida have interest as well but who really knows. I do think he'll be chased and $$$ matters.

If you bring in depth you're looking for a guy that was on someone else's depth chart but a starter elsewhere.
They have had great teams most years. They are a really good program at that level.
Reading the views here I think I'm leaning to NO vote on Becht. Build the team around Grunk and the young QBs.
Duh! I think that's a gimme. I am referring to the board opinion which certainly has no bearing on what CMC will do.
I do think though that they need a portal QB, but to backup Grunk. If he goes down who comes in...Smolik or Kritza? Falzone or the kid from Texas? The only one who has any live snaps is Smolik (minimal) and he has been mostly hurt during his time at PSU.

Not everybody. At this stage which is normal, Grunk is a one read QB who is still learning. Grunk needs many more games under his belt to become a decent QB. Grunk in no way, shape, or form is even close to Becht. Stop the madness.
Its not ideal, but freshman do play. This would also be after Smolik who was considered to be a really solid recruit. I'd love it if the debate at QB next year for PSU was Julian Sayin versus Ty Simpson and Grunk is waiting in the wings but it don't work like that. These days you are stuck with the guys that have been recruited and based on the fact that there is such a turnover that if you are left with no viable option. You grab one in the portal. If you have a viable option. You don't grab one in the portal. IF you are grabbing one in the portal to be a starter, you are saying you don't have a viable option.
Grunk would give PSU a better chance to win in every game next year than either Becht or Pribula. I dont understand if MC wants to tick off his best option at QB.
You see, I can state my opinion and act like it is a fact too.
Becht likely gives us the best chance to win next year but playing Grunk next year gives us the best chance to win in 2027 which matters.
