That coach was already separated, and the wife knew he had started dating again, and per the coach's lawyer statement, there is no rule against those two dating. So why'd he get fired? Did he suck and the school saw an opening to can him and took it? Or...???

The school is also alleging that he violated the school’s alcohol policy by having alcohol in his office and drinking with other coaches there. And the University’s president was at an event with him where she claims to have smelled alcohol on his breath and that he appeared intoxicated

No one should care who anyone is dating if it is legal and consensual.
The fact that I could pick and choose my gender, my skin color, my age, my pronouns and that is all totally okay but a grown man can't date a grown woman? A grown man can't have a drink with other coaches after work hours? A grown man can't drink at a social function for the school that I can assure you had booze being served?
This is as stupid as people thinking wearing jeans means you are not a professional.

This was his first year as head coach. Ohio had a better record than us this year.
Of course they should. This is as silly a statement as anything you subsequently mention.
Like QBs, when it comes to cause or reasons for firing, if you need to rely on your backup, then you are usually not confident of your primary one.
I guess that settles it. If you could see outside your own personal desires, it would make sense.
I agree with most. With the exception of Moore who had direct leadership responsibility of the employee. If you are nailing people who work under you it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen and adds a tremendous amount of drama to the workplace.
..its a terrible idea, no doubt. BUT, not illegal or against their policy. He must have been a raging embarrassment in public, when he was loaded. Cause this by itself doesn't get an 8-4 coach fired.
