I have heard different things on dollar but hard to believe lincolnton. He's the kind of talent that would go to hough. And on agee may be a lotta push back on that. The county and school board aren't exactly lincolnton friendly

Also do the kids really wanna have to go through Shelby for a chance at conference championship much less state championship. Believe me Shelby will reload with enough talent to repeat. If crest doesn't make the perfect hire, Shelby could become a super team

Catawba county doesn't allow transfers without a 365 day no sport participation. It has to be a real move to the school district u wanna go to. So even when they say transfers to Maiden, technically it's not true the families moved to maiden.

Difference is we have the "Maiden Rule" where someone goes and does a home inspection to make sure they are living there. And don't forget the affidavit that has to be signed

Now lord forbid maiden ever gets any affordable apt complex's. Where families of all income levels can enjoy the fruits and benefits of a small and passionate community about creating a successful environment of promoting better education and opportunities to families

There's a little rumor going around don't know how true it is that y'all's coach may put in for the crest job that he has connections to the program.

I think that is just a rumor but you never know. We love him at Cramer, but he is young and ambitious.

Granted 60 years old isn't what 60 use to be. But question is does he have to go back to work in the school also. If not it would be good set up.

So I pretty much know how our conference is going to shake out, or at least who will be at the top with Shelby, Lincolnton, Burns, and Cramer all bringing back a lot and all of us thinking we will be good, and 3 of us definitely thinking better than this year.

How is your conference going to shake out next year? Any drop off from EL and Hickory? Your Devils still going to be strong? Anyone going to fall off a lot?

It really depends on how things shake out over the off season. I believe most all the teams will have a little bit of a drop off with the exception of a few that I think will stay steady as last year. All the big dogs will probably have some drop off just hard to imagine not happening when everyone's losing their quarterback. West Iredell Ford I believe will be the same as last year but doesn't mean they will get further ahead just means probably a little closer than this year was.

You mention above a high school blocked another kid from transferring in Lincoln. Does each county not operate under the same NC state rules? I think this will be a big issue for counties like Gaston in the near future. The rules are not applied equally. I think kids should be able to transfer for sports. Sports allow for millions of dollars of scholarships each year to students athletes, provide financial support to schools through ticket sales to competitive programs, and build community support. Unfortunately I believe counties like Gaston rather keep everyone down and in place than worrying about fielding good football programs which will take additional work.

Up to each school board. The State probably doesnt want to implement something statewide and get sued.
I like what SC did. Give everyone 1 free transfer and after that a 365 rule. It gives kids options without playing for 4 teams in 4 years.

Also if you really want to get confusing in our County we have three school systems. They tend to follow the same policy but honestly if they wanted to they could all have their own policy on transfers. Being that it's three separate school systems there's no incentive for them to work together. If I had a high school with his own school system I would want to try to turn my sports teams into powerhouses and set the policy to screw over surrounding schools.

5. TRANSFER POLICY: After initial entry into the ninth grade, and absent a bona fide move
as provided in the Residence section in this Handbook:
(a)a student transferring from one member school to another member school within the same
LEA must sit out 365 days for athletic participation. The LEA may create criteria for immediate
athletic eligibility for transfers within the LEA.
(b)A student transferring from one member school in one LEA to another member school in a
different LEA must sit out 365 days for athletic participation. Exceptions for immediate athletic
eligibility for transfers from one LEA to a different LEA will be heard by a special NCHSAA transfer
committee.
NOTE: If a member school is not part of a defined LEA (e.g., charter school, non-boarding
parochial school, etc.), then the member school itself will be considered its own LEA for purposes
of this policy (i.e., exceptions involving these member schools will fall under subsection (b) above).

If I am reading this correctly. We have a State Rule of 365 unless the county says otherwise. Nice and clear.

Again for the record. I am a free market capitalist. Let the kids transfer and do what is best for them. Schools and school systems need to focus on creating a better product, not restricting the market!
