One of the longest serving head coaches averaging over 8 wins a season )I think) and are in a Bowl this year. Wonder if the fire has burned out or something else.

The guy

The guy at Air Force. (2007). Then Dabo Swinney at clemson. (2009). Then every other coach is 2013 onward.
Other active head coaches with > 200 FBS games coached (KF is 340, no one else is close): Bronco Mendenhall, Rich Rod, Bielema, Ken Niumatalolo, Pat Fitzgerald, Schiano, Butch Jones. Pretty short list.

The longest-tenured active college football coach in Division I FBS is Kirk Ferentz at Iowa (since 1999), followed by Kyle Whittingham at Utah (since 2005), and Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State (since 2005), with Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Dabo Swinney (Clemson) also on the list, showcasing incredible stability in modern coaching, although Ferentz stands alone with his pre-2000 start.

If I recall correctly, Whittingham wanted to step down prior to this year, but was talked into coming back and he wanted to make sure he had his successor in place.

I don't consider it plodding when he's won 8 or more games for 10 years in a row. Only Bama, OSU, Georgia and Oregon can say that. Maybe you're plodding along with your anti-Kirk sentiment. Maybe you have Ferentz Derangemet Syndrome.
Maybe you have your head up your own ***. Ferentz is as stale as 2 week old news. Keep drinking the kool aid. Now it’s Ferentz derangement syndrome, where have we heard that before oh yes, your an orange buffoon swallower. Thank you for this matter.

Sad that you losers have to come this board to badmouth Kirk and the Hawks. Go back to the Clone board.

Sounds like the Michigan job is a done deal. I guess the reports of him retiring were pre-mature. Between trying to take our recruits and now hiring a coach similar to Kirk, feels like Michigan is trying to be Iowa 2.0.

Hey, TestosteroneSwallower55, KF is not stale. I love what he's done with the team to get things turned around.

Thanks for the news. Sucks though. I was hoping they'd just burn that dirty program down. Oh well.
Coach was making 6.9 mil at Utah...probably getting just over 10 mil for the UM job.
But does money really matter for him? Doubtful.
Probably feels like he could win a Ship there with all the talent they can attract.

I guess not since he's the new HC at Michigan...
Michigan is going old school. The wine and cheese, brie and caviar tailgating fans have had enough of scandal. The worst things that can happen to them has happened, they are embarrassed by scandal. Can't have that.

If Whittingham is only there for four or five years and wins most of his games, that will get them back to their accustomed status.
