Not so. I have a long and proud history of hating snow on this board. But as someone who works in a hospital, I always want to be prepared and be able to prepare my colleagues. If that’s being a weenie, then so be it. Why are you so pissed off about everything nowadays? That wasn’t always the case with you.
Can't they check the weather themselves? Do you send out 1,000 emails like someone else on this board. LOL

And why does that bother you? Why do you guys feel the need to gang up on a guy who provides information that is of interest to many people. You sound petty and jelly. Try spreading some joy and love once in a while instead of tearing others down.

Here you go, all the weather news you need to know and track:

This is a discussion thread where people normally post their observations during a weather event. But you already know that, right?

All rain here and for the entire 95 corridor and coast from the get go. Snow falling well NW of 95 with sleet 10-20 miles NW of 95, but should be all rain soon for everyone except far NW NJ/Poconos/NW Hudson Valley. At least the ski resorts will be happy with the snowfall expected, as per the map below.

In Boston hitting the C's game tonight
Assume the storm will be rocking snow up here around that time?

I'm young at heart. Jelly flowed better after petty, and pettous is not a word. .
You're a poet and you know it.

It was 31 last night around 9 and I really thought they had this wrong about the rain in central NJ. Glad the roads along 95 were ok this am.

Forgive my very limited knowledge in this area, but is it possible that the system tomorrow needs to clear out before the models can get a better handle on what will happen on Fri-Sat?
It's a fair question, but the uncertainty for Saturday is more that it's 4-5 days away from last night's model runs, meaning the error bars on any storm's evolution are fairly high, especially with the systems involved being poorly sampled out in the Pacific. But the modeling should still be good enough to sniff out if we're likely to have something significant and no models show that. The question now is whether we get nada or maybe 1/2-1" of light snow on Saturday (with greater chances south of 195), with more models leaning towards nada.

Mostly rain for Boston, too, although they may get up to an inch late this morning before the change to rain for most of the day (and they could get a change back to a little bit of snow tonight). Even the immediate Maine coast will get enough warm air from the ocean to lead to a mix and only a few inches of snow, while 10 miles inland will get 6"+. So being further north obviously helps, but with a track too close to the coast, even folks way north of here along the coast warm up enough for some/mostly rain.

All the weather board weenies were chattering about it being in the mid/upper 20s from midnight to 5 am for most of the 95 corridor/coast, which was colder than forecast, but as expected, temps jumped very quickly to above 32F right before the precip moved in - SE winds off a 50F ocean will do that very quickly.

Was getting light snow up by us around 8, but when I drove down to the main road it changed to sleet/rain. Then vacillated between sleet and snow all the way into work.

One thing is for sure: 12/1-12/15 is going to be well below normal in temperature, so if we can get some moisture at the right time, we'll get some snow. Not always an easy thing to do, though, as we saw last winter with below normal temps for Dec-Jan-Feb, but well below normal snowfall. Could be some record lows Friday morning (numbers in the boxes).

Albany set a new cold temperature record this morning of 0F, as did Mt. Pocono at -4F, and LaGuardia Airport in NYC at 20F. The coldest relative temperatures on Earth were in the Midwest/Great Lakes yesterday, as per the graphic below and that air moved into the NE this morning, so it's likely that temps will stay at or below 32F for highs today for most. Decent 1-3" snowfall going on for much of northern NC, most of VA and parts of MD/DE; could even get 1/2" or so from Dover to AC and south of that line and dustings up to 195 today and there's a chance for a dusting/coating for most of our region overnight into Saturday morning.

Nice post from Mike Masco (Ch 11) on the ongoing cold pattern (with polar vortex lobes rotating through the eastern 1/3 of the US including our area every few days keeping it generally a bit cold to very cold at times) shifting towards a stormier, but cold pattern, with "blocking" developing at high latitudes, which tends to drive troughs into the eastern US with an active subtropical jet stream bringing moisture toward our area every few days, possibly resulting in wintry storms. No guarantees, but if this pattern for mid-December into January verifies, the probability of it getting wintry around here (cold AND snowy) go up significantly. However, keep in mind that it's much easier to predict cold temps well in advance than it is to predict specific precipitation, like snow, that far in advance. Many of the best long range mets are chattering about this now. Stay tuned.

We had our first snowfall of the winter, getting 1/4" of snow overnight - woke up around 1:30 am to see the end of it. Nice.

Keep your eyes on Sunday for a possible winter storm: anything from light to moderate snow to snow to rain (for 95/coast) or a miss, although this is looking more promising for snow than last week's storm for the 95 corridor, which always looked wet.
