nobody knows what it is. Especially Iowa.
Timing is critical this time of the year with retention and portal opening up soon. Iowa needs to pay attention to this when Ferentz retires.
If I was a Cyclone recruit I would not be happy with being lied to.
What does that say about Iowa. It says Iowa's coaches did some things in the 2024 ISU game to lose it. Kirk going for two points and not getting it eventually opened the door for ISU's last second game winning FG. And Kirk and Lester found out with immobile Cade M at QB in 1st and goal situations inside the 5 or 3 yard line that opponents could totally load the box with 11 players if need be.
A game or two later in those short goal line situations the Hawks went with Sullivan's fast and good running ability to spread teams out and then it was Sully or KalebJ easily scoring TDs the rest of the season.
And third, and I counted and added all of thise up, was the time management by Iowa's offensive coaches communicating to QB CadeM. You remember that ISU got the score to Iowa 19 ISU 17 in the 4th qtr. The hawks got the ball 3 more times I think and I added up all of their snaps with a running game clock. IIRC the hawks could have used up about 90 seconds of time on all those offensive snaps. If they would have done that then Iowa would never have had to punt the ball back to ISU at the end of the game. And hawks win.
These are the things that sort of drive me nuts about KF who has been so conservative and played it so close to the vest as they say but he misses so crucial stuff. I was moaning and groaning when he went for a 2pt conversion in that game, pissed me off, KF should know that every 1 pt PAT matters when Iowa plays.
I’ll be surprised if they wait until after the bowl. They have every right to secure their own futures, especially if they haven’t got the invite to Happy Valley.
So do you suppose the stuff with Sitake earlier in the week was just a smokescreen? I suppose that’s possible.
But my take is that while there was probably a very real possibility that Campbell would be leaving, it wasn’t a done deal until Thursday or Friday. In the meantime, Pollard made his contingency plans and everyone involved carried out business as usual, including doing what they do on signing day.
If I was a parent of a newly committed player, I would absolutely be annoyed. But it’s also part of the game. I mean, it’s not like these kids don’t get to go to college for free while also earning very nice NIL money at the same time — all with the ability to change schools anytime they feel like it. So, I don’t feel too sorry for them.

With regards to the recent signees, they can look at it two ways, they can go along should he offer, or expect playing time sooner given that he likely roster depletion coming. I kind of view it as a win to an extent.

Curious this morning and looking to see how coaching changes changed psu, isu and wazzu recruiting classes after seeing Wash st just named mizzou OC and wash. Native kirby Moore new coach. So far not much changes with roster and recruits at wazzu. I did see how Campbell officially flipped first recruit to PSU a DB Williams from Neb. Looks like isu has had multiple guys including their qb and 2 OL decommit and class is down to 12 players now. On3 has it ranked 87th now sandwiched between UTSA and bowling green.

The secret sauce is ability to process quickly. The issue is it’s a lot harder to quantify than arm strength and mobility.
Looks like the two NE boys that bailed on the Clowns are headed to Penn St. Nice upgrade for them!

Brecht had a very down year... Every loss can be pointed right at him. except one.
Losses:
- vs. Brigham Young (L 27-41): 3 INTs, 8 rushes for -31 yds.
- vs. Colorado (L 17-24): 18/33 (54.5%) 1 INT, 0 TDs
- vs. Arizona State (L 19-24): 18/36 (50%) for 186 yds, 1 INT, 8 rushes for 6 yds.
- vs. Cincinnati (L 30-38): 30/48 (62.5%) not a bad game. Probably his best of the year, but still an 'L'.
* I am assuming that Rogers is a good P4 coach & can retain the players, and bring in others to fill the gaps... Although Campbell looks to already have started poaching ISU players. So....

One of my favorite CyHawk memories is seeing him dazed & confused on the bench after Phil's D abused him!

I could be extremely far off though. Anyone can and should feel free to correct me with the real answer.
Obviously players and recruits will see psu a step up over isu. Though not sure how many wazzu players and recruits will. With new pac 12 starting next year I think most of them will considered it a lateral move and less likely to leave west coast for Ames. Rogers was able to bring 16 guys with him from sdsu to wazzu but those were guys he coached and step up in levels. Wash st players minus frosh who he recruited from last season have no loyalty to him and as noted im not sure too many see it as a big enough jump up to leave.
think we will see lot of current isu players hit portal by the end of week with finals wrapping up. Also of note I see DJ Lagway from FL entered portal. Just another school may try and go after FL native Becht. Rocco is a 3 year starter and won fair share of games he will get some big offers if he does unless he gives Campbell a “discount” and follows him to psu.
Think you are correct. Isu fans are scorned lovers right now. Instead of being happy to have dated the hotter girl they out kicked their coverage for they are upset she left them for a more attractive option.
It's like a scene from some sad romance movie. "You're not the man I fell in love with. I don't even recognize you anymore."
Some of them hate Campbell because his leaving forces them to realize that their program is a stepping stone. And always will be.
I wonder if their current QB gets a redshirt year for his injury this year. I believe going into the season he was a top 15 NFL draft pick possibly. My guess is that he comes back for a year.
If Rocco Becht decided to transfer to Iowa, I bet the narrative around here would change. There is nothing wrong with admitting he is a decent to good QB. I'd happily take him over nearly anyone in the room right now.
