I like Kinston in this one by 7, I feel like the real regional championship was between Northeast and Kinston
@JK0713Tigers told me Kinston offense was on the same level as Midway and Kinston conference was weak #SheshhhhhhhhhhhI told yall that Regional championship was played last week in Elizabeth City.
JK0713Tigers and DEFootball laughed at me
Congrats to Kinston
Told yall JK was overlooking Kinston. Yall never gave Kinston a chance. Offense was going for it on their own 15 and 20 yard line.JKs closest games this year (and their only loss) were against teams that are/were very run heavy. In games with teams that run a spread style offense, they dominated. Now, that does not guarantee success this week given Kinston's skill people are probably the best JK has seen, but it does account for something.
Playing an up tempo style will play right into JK hands if JK gets stops, and I think they will.
JK has been dominant all season with the only blip against a very good Southern Nash team. Kinston has puzzling losses to 4-7 South Central, 5-7 White Oak, an Ayden Grifton team JK had no trouble with, and two close calls with mediocre Wallace Rose Hill and Greene Central. Yes, they played Tarboro tough but never really stopped the Vikings.
One factor will be the weather IF the game is on Friday night. No passing team likes to play in the rain regardless of what anyone says. JK wants to play football in a phone booth and turn the game into a rock fight. JK will be more physical and that will work better if the field conditions are less than ideal. Kinston will have to match that physicality and that will be a challenge.
JK will not overlook Kinston especially considering the recent history between the two.
X factor for me will be JKs defensive scheme and matching up with the two receivers. I think they will generate enough pass rush to cause Kinston problems. JKs defensive coordinator is one of the best around with a ton of experience and will have them prepared.
Game played Thursday- JK 48 Kinston 24
Game played Friday- JK 41 Kinston 18
Not much of a JK fan but the conference being weak is still true. Outside of Kinston, the 3A teams went 8-5, 8-6, 5-6, and 1-10. That's one decent team, one team that's barely above water, one losing team, and a team that got absolutely streamrolled all year. It's a conference with no real weekly competition.@JK0713Tigers told me Kinston offense was on the same level as Midway and Kinston conference was weak #Sheshhhhhhhhhhh
Tarboro beat the 5a and 3a eastern champions. Plus two teams in the 4th round of 5a and 4a. So your theory on Tarboro is laughable. They're damn good this yearNot much of a JK fan but the conference being weak is still true. Outside of Kinston, the 3A teams went 8-5, 8-6, 5-6, and 1-10. Sure Tarboro is in the conference but they're 2A, using them to argue conference strength is laughable. Their wins don't do anything for you, they don't change your seeding, and they don't make the rest of your league any better. Everything you throw out is based on hype and obsession, hardly anything grounded in stats and numbers.
Once again, not a JK fan but beating them one time doesn't randomly turn silly Eastern Plains into a powerhouse. A playoff upset does not erase a whole season of weak competition. Have some class.
Good win for Kinston, good luck next week
Not to mention Farmville Central made it to the 4th round as well. The Eastern plains wasn't that bad.Tarboro beat the 5a and 3a eastern champions. Plus two teams in the 4th round of 5a and 4a. So your theory on Tarboro is laughable. They're damn good this year
EPC had 2 teams in the final four of the east. I’m not saying EPC is a powerhouse but it looks the SVC was the weak conference. Midway was the second best team and as a 3 seed got bounced in the second round. Not much of a JK fan but the conference being weak is still true. Better go check who Tarboro beat this year. It was some really good teams. Two of which will be playing for state titles next weekend. And FWIW, I actually did believe James Kenan would run the ball effectively on Kinston. But Kinston proved me and based on a lot of comments in this thread, many others wrong. Good season to the tigers I'm sure they'll be in the mix again next year. Not much of a JK fan but the conference being weak is still true. That’s your opinion. ALOT of questionable stuff from JK side. Like going for it inside your own 20 on fourth down TWICE.Kinston obviously had a great defensive game plan. Their talent on offense speaks for itself. Not many schools in the 3A-4A level that have two D1 receivers. Kudos to them and congratulations.
Please stop with the overlooking angle. JK fans probably were overlooking Kinston but I seriously doubt any coach (head or assistant) worth anything overlooks a team that is as athletic as Kinston and has the offensive skill set that Kinston has. If the coaches aren't overlooking them, then I doubt the majority of the team is overlooking them. To keep bringing that up as a reason JK lost is a disservice to what Kinston accomplished.
Again congrats to Kinston for the big win.
