Those teams have lots of starters who were 4 star players. Iowa picked up a QB who won multiple national championships at SDSU. Where we’ve suffered is in our lines more than anything. Ideally guys who are sophomores and freshmen this year and played situationally will start showing up this next fall. Brix etal. The hole the transition from Frost’s last class and Rhule’s first class was a killer.
Needed this dude.
We've been saying that since T.O retired. Where you been?Blah blah blah
NEXT YEAR!
(again)
So give up.Blah blah blah
NEXT YEAR!

but that goes against the Nebraska narrative of developing OL talent like in the past. You know, get farms kids who were their teams biggest kid, maybe a TE and turn him into an AA in 4-5 years. I have heard that narrative over and over for years.Give me all the 4 star lineman you can.
That's the problem we aren't getting 4 stars where it counts. The lines are kid 3 star players.
We haven't received a 4 star DT since Bo.
That’s also why those kind of rules can’t be universal. Positions like OL and DL way more often than not require multiple years of seasoning, conditioning, training to be ready. positions like WR, RB, DB, and now even QB don’t require multiple years. If you are not on the 2-deep by your 3rd year in those latter 4, you’ve been recruited over and passed by. For OL/DL, if you aren’t there by the time fall camp is finished on RS-JR year, you’ve been passed over. Unless they are an extremely irreplaceable locker room piece, a good program will send them on their way to make room for better younger talent of the next recruiting class. It’s not a cut and dry principle or an absolute, but you can’t hang onto old players who don’t contribute. You can’t keep young players who you also don’t foresee making the leap either. We’ve had lots of starting O linemen who never cracked the 3 deep until their redshirt junior year. Hard fast rules are bound to be broken.
I get the premise behind it but there’s a lot of guys who need to mature. We’re already processing tons of guys. People bring up Ives, but replacing him with another 3 star guy probably doesn’t help the team. We needed his depth this past fall with the injuries. We need 2 P4 RBs in this class if EJ leaves but we’re not going to know that for a while. That’s also why those kind of rules can’t be universal. What depth did Ives exactly provide? His 16 carries and 3 catches aren’t something a handful of other mid-level 3 ⭐️ recruits (like he was) can’t also do?I get the premise behind it but there’s a lot of guys who need to mature. Give the negativity a rest already! Rhule is the coach for at least another year so all your whinning and crying isn't doing a bit of good.
You have to have a body. I get it. I was very disappointed with his production given his measureables. Clearly he was passed over. Hopefully he has his degree and moves on.What depth did Ives exactly provide? His 16 carries and 3 catches aren’t something a handful of other mid-level 3 ⭐️ recruits (like he was) can’t also do?
I’m not saying to kick these guys out solely because they’re low on the depth chart. There has to be a plan/replacement on deck. Hopefully there is a plan for the portal if EJ leaves, because the depth showed us no sunny skies on the horizon based off this season. You have to have a body. I get it. USC’s true freshman RB looked great. It’s one place you can plug in a true freshman and have it work. Hope we got that guy. Whatever happened to Brown the RB recruit? Late period signer?I’m not saying to kick these guys out solely because they’re low on the depth chart. There has to be a plan/replacement on deck. We have a highly sought after freshman RB in injury rehab. Signed one. Portal opens soon. There isn't.
The only "plan" that was ever in place was to catch lightning in a bottle this year and jump ship to Penn State. That having failed, Rhule is absolutely adrift.
Did Parker even practice this year? Will he practice for bowl prep?We have a highly sought after freshman RB in injury rehab. Signed one. Portal opens soon.
Don’t knowDid Parker even practice this year? Will he practice for bowl prep?
I ask the question a couple weeks ago and the response was he will not practice for the bowl game, but nobody seems to know what his injury isDon’t know
Wasn’t it an ACL? Hopefully we don’t hear “he has old knees”.I ask the question a couple weeks ago and the response was he will not practice for the bowl game, but nobody seems to know what his injury is
Seriously, I was worried about him with Butler getting canned
Rex, Claude and Hayden say WTF do you think we are? Hit the portal hard for more and the D lineman.Great! Where are the Dline, linebackers and Oline guys?
Ummmmmmm sure, yeah, that’s it.We don't have the room for a bigger class since we're loaded with freshmen and sophomores. We will hit the portal for immediate needs which is actually more important at this juncture

good thing we're the only school shopping for the most critical position groups in the portalPortal

You want another coaching transition? Oregon had to get 3 o line starters in the portal this year even without the whiplash of a transition from 7 losing seasons in a row.good thing we're the only school shopping for the most critical position groups in the portal
very lucky
desperately.You want another coaching transition?
