What a crock! That was absolutely nothing. That's an official just looking for any possible excuse to call something. It may be the most ludicrous tech call I've ever seen, and I've been watching the officiating bullshitt in the men's and women's games for decades. My gawd. That call goes right up there with the "tech" on Caitlin Clark in the national title game. What the hell is it with officials and Iowa? The men and women who represent the Hawkeyes generally play the cleanest style of basketball in the country, and they get hosed constantly. Anyone who thinks Stremlow's reaction deserved a T doesn't know squat.

BTW: Iowa football could have used those eagle-eyed refs at USC when TWO egregious, game-changing face mask penalties were ignored.

It was an awesome display of competitive emotion, and it was unfortunately right in the face of the opponent. I'd imagine there was some trash talk thrown at Strem leading up to it. Iowa team absolutely needs this competitive fire on the court.

Oh, and it was unfortunately a pretty clear-cut violation of rules---deserved the tech. This isn't the WNBA.

I would have to respectfully disagree. If that was a tech, there should be 15 or 20 of them called in every college basketball game played. Watch tonight's men's game @ MSU and you'll see some truly demonstrative actions by the Spartans, all of which will be FAR worse than what Stremlow did. Let me know how many of these "clear-cut violations of rules" get called. Not to mention the constant ranting and raving and running around ON the court Izzo will do. How many Ts will he get for his "pretty clear-cut violation of rules"? I'll be looking forward to your response.

Yep. As the announcer said if she would have turned to Ava and done that, it would have been overlooked. Doing it in the face of the opponent will get you T'd up. Not down on Strem at all either, I love the fire and moxie she plays with. Just one of those things you can't do.

Players pose all the time, but rarely do they do it right at the player they just bested. Garza celebrated big plays but you just can't face up on someone. If they turn away its rarely called.

McCabe thought it was a technical. She walked over and talked to Jan after the play and Jan's face changed from confusion to understanding. Also, there is an angle that allows for lip reading, I clocked a "sh*t" and a "b*tch".

I thought cyclone fans were the ones that play the victims about officiating.

Agree. There are dynamics happening during play that the viewer doesn't see or hear. I do love her fire though.

That stuff only gets stopped when the officials call it every time it happens. She deserved it and will learn.

It was the right call, but refs are not consistent on it...very subjective type call.

That said,am loving Strems overall play, including her toughness.
She is a fancy passer...not the quickest but when ChitChat comes back, she and Addie give good depth.

It was a T but oh well.
The issue is the black point guard from Fairfield had done it several times although not directly at a player. I thought the refs were rough. They were not consistent on the screen calls.

Man, thaat is the truth. Seems like every time there is a ball screen up high and the whistle blows you are not sure which way it is going to go.

I think the closeness and the directional display was a little over the top for just a decent block. Must have been some other talking going on that lead up to this. And if Stremlow's reaction warranted a T, then the other player could have gotten one with her reaction as she went towards Stremlow screaming/yelling something, (probably not cordial.)

We need Chitty back.....but playing without her for a few games has given Stremlow & Addie much needed experience running the team.
